The Morph of @kahlo2013's song "Magical Brownies" http://fiftyninety.fawmers.org/song/38245

Kahlo's tune is a more fleshed, rocking song and I wanted to keep with my overall 50/90 sound of voice + guitar. I keep the chords for the most part with some embellishment in the chorus and a new set of chords for the bridge. The vocal melody I just kind of flowed with whatever came out during the initial run through - it's pretty different from Kahlo's song. Lyrically, I started by rewriting everyone other line and tweaking other lyrics to craft this story of love lost. This speaks to feelings I've felt when I acted in ways that really messed up relationships. My hope is that I'm becoming a better person and won't treat those who love me like a jerk.

Lyrics:

Light after the dawn
Reveals something wrong
I toss off the blankets
And think of what I’ve done
I wish I hit the snooze alarm
When I held you in my arms
Now the morning birds’ singing
Remind me that you’re gone
Chorus
There’s a rhyme, there’s a reason
For you leaving
If I knew what I know now
Would we be speaking?
Your absence invites me
To time with myself
To become the man you deserve
And not someone else
V2
Take my morning brew
Sigh a breath and wait to cool
I hope this bitter drink
Takes my mind off of you
It was written on the wall
Words I can’t recall
If only I had looked
We would be so far
C
There’s a rhyme, there’s a reason
For you leaving
If I knew what I know now
Would we be speaking?
Your absence invites me
To time with myself
To become the man you deserve
And not someone else
B
chase away the tears
chase away the years
chase away the fears
I’m running
C
There’s a rhyme, there’s a reason
For you leaving
If I knew what I know now
Would we be speaking?
Your absence invites me
To time with myself
To become the man you deserve
And not someone else

Strange intro...but the song is solid with just the guitar and vocal.

nice introspective feel throughout. the sentiment is one most people will able to relate to, as we all fall short of who we can be,

The “strange intro” comment made me have another listen - guess it is abrupt or a bit of a surprise and then I hear those gorgeous vocal - you know I love them. And I hear your style come through. Very nice song!

Mmm...this is tasty and soulful. I love the way you jump right in and start singing. I really love those verses. They really flow, and I can totally see the scene in my mind's eye. That's one hell of a chorus. I love the little pauses. They whole thing really works

You kept it in the area you are aiming very nicely. Nice delivery of a real topic.

This is a very sexy performance. Why did she leave? This reminds me lightly of goo goo dolls and the calling but without the overt popness which makes it better for me

Dang, another good song. I didn't listen to the Morph chain (I probably should to hear how it got to here) but I'm liking this very much. Both the melody and the lyric are very good. I like that jump in melody to the very high note in the chorus. Excellent.
