Liner Notes:

Amanda: Am on a roll - 20 minutes this time to create this rough lyric Smile This was written for the Sunday night regular skirmish. The theme this time was 'reach for the stars'...

UPDATE 5th Aug: Amanda says: Corey is going to musicate this one Smile I can't wait !

10.8.19: Corey says: It's FINALLY up... Finished the musication of Amanda's lyrics (which have a tinge of "Big Time" by Peter Gabriel BTW) and just had to tweak the chorus a fraction for singability. Hope y'all like it Smile

Lyrics:

On My Way Up
© 10/8/2019 A. West/C. Stewart

V1
I'm trying, an flying
Sure as hell ain't dying
I'm going, mind-blowing
All the way to bank rolling

PC
I gonna reach right up to the sky
An grab a great big piece of the pie
Won't let anyone get in my way, no way

Chorus
I'm on my way up, on my way up
Ain't gonna slow right down
I'm on my way up, on my way up
Who's gonna stop me now?
Who's gonna stop me now?
Who's gonna stop me now?

Verse 2
So flowing, am showing
Just what I have to offer
I'm crowing, not slowing
So much to be foregoing

Pre Chorus
I'm gonna reach right up to the sky
An grab a great big piece of the pie
Won't let anyone get in my way, no way

Chorus

Bridge
Someday, sometime soon, I'll have made it real
And I'll be cuttin' the deals with the main guys
Someday, sometime soon, I'll have curb appeal
An I ain't talking about my automobile, yeah...

Chorus (x2)

Who's gonna stop me now?

I can feel the energy in this. The repetitions add to that. Very universal the way it's written. The perseverance and determination is very apparent. Nicely written!

@Kristi I write universal lyrics for a living so tend to write them without even thinking nowadays. I am impressed that you spotted it, and thank you Smile

Yes, energetic is a good word for this. You can feel the positive drive and determination

Positivity abounds, plus rhythm makes it catchy even without music.
You write without even thinking...
Much respect.
To be able to just spill words out of yourself and not even bat an eye. Great talent/skill/gift.
I can hear all kinds of music with this (i guess thats the universal stuff that kristi mentioned?), but it all has a good beat and moves the listener.
Earth Wind and Fire type vibes are in my head

Yes, very up. This has great energy and could be a contemporary dance tune. Long disco mix. Wink

This has the potential for a whole lot of jubilant, positive fun. Remember the Pointer Sisters? I can imagine them singing these words with lots of harmonizing.

This leaps off the page. Some lines made me smile - curb appeal, and the mind-blowing / bank-rolling rhyme. Impressive write for 20mins!

These lyrics would work really well in a variety of styles! Can't wait to hear them put to music. Bridge at the ending is a neat idea! Great big rockin' potential here. Smile

What a pleasure to listen to your collaboration. The music and the lyrics are brilliantly connected. Very catchy, dynamic, inspiring song. Love the energy in the lyrics and in the music. Congratulations to both!

This is so catchy! I think the music lifts this right up! It picks up on the energy in the lines and complements the message with pizzazz! What a fun listen...ready for the dance floor!

Great sounding. Just the right musication for your lyric. High energy and quite commercial. Wonderful collab y'all.

Thanks for the note that you added music. So great to hear it.
It's a very successful match of music and lyrics, positive and energetic. Catchy, too!

Yup, just as I figured - great driving beat and rhythm, hooky vocals, super catchy.
Great feel to this, I'm rocking in my seat.
AWESOME vocals. Love the melody applied to these lyrics.
Has soul. Has vibe. Has...an 'it' factor.
The harmonies and the rhythm guitar give it a great polish.
This was a friggin great collab; awesome song.

Looking at the lyrics...v1 is loaded with killer rhymes...very nice. PC has a nice lift and message. The chorus shows strong self-esteem and even questions who is going to stop me....nice. v2 is loaded with good rhymes once again. Strong bridge and sounds like a musician. Maybe a Buddy Holly or even The Beatles as they told George Martin they rather do their own song then cover another song which went on to be a pretty big hit by Gerry and the Pacemakers...how do you do what you do to me...I think that was it or something else like that. Great skirmish Amanda. I'm ready for the audio now...hold. Nice beat and guitar intro...vocals now...sounds good...harmony vocals now...sounds good...no way...I'm on my way up...good melody...who's gonna stop me now...love the riff...I'm gonna reach right up to the sky....sounds great...I'm on my way up...nice guitar playing...very good vocals...keys in the back....ain't talking about my automobile...sounds like a key change...yes I think it was a truck driver gear shift...I think...nice finish. Excellent Corey, I enjoyed this very much. A terrific collaboration.
