Liner Notes:

July is ending and I've been mostly non-existent for various reasons. Yesterday, I told myself to either write or stop pretending.

This is very personal and completely self-indulgent but I had to get it out if I was to have any hope of moving on to something else.

I have a melody in mind but can't sing it right now. I've included chords in case anybody else would like to try.
(Of course the chords don't line up right but it shouldn't be too tough to figure out.)

Lyrics:

Intro:F C F C G

Am
There’s space on the bed,
C
Space on the chair,
Dm
Space in the hallway,
F G
Space on the stair.
Am
There’s space on the couch,
C
Space on the floor,
Dm
Space by the window,
F G
Space by the door.

F G E7 Am
Too many spaces inside these walls.
F C F G
Too many spaces and you fit them all.
F G E7 Am
Too many spaces in each place I go.
F C F C G
Too many spaces can empty a home.

Am
I’ve space when I walk,
C
Space when I sleep,
Dm
Space to make breakfast,
F G
Space to then eat.
Am
I’ve space when I read,
C
Space when I play,
Dm
Space when I come home,
F G
Space if I stay.

F G E7 Am
Too many spaces inside these walls.
F C F G
Too many spaces and you fit them all.
F G E7 Am
Too many spaces in each place I go.
F C F C G
Too many spaces can empty a home.

Am
I’ve space if I stand,
C
Space if I fall,
Dm
And within my heart
F C
Is the most space of all.

An interesting reflection on that oft-repeated line, "I just need my own space." Very moving; the last line of the chorus is the killer.
