As soon as I read Kristi's lyrics I imagined it to be a late night jazzy torch song so this is my first real attempt at doing that. Not a jazz player myself but thanks to the lyric the overall feeling is there Smile

Lyrics:

I Was Wrong
© 28/7/2019 K. McKeever/C. Stewart

I thought you were shallow
And full of conceit
I thought you were living
With nothing but greed

I heard all the rumors
Believed every word
I told the same stories
Because I was so sure

[ch]
But I was wrong from the beginning
Should have read the last page
No one is winning
When you don’t care what you say
I now know things were twisted
And hope the past soon fades
Things might be different
If I had read the last page

I said you were careless
And thoughtless and cruel
I said you don’t know when
You break all the rules

[ch]
But I was wrong from the beginning
Should have read the last page
No one is winning
When you don’t care what you say
I now know things were twisted
And hope the past soon fades
Things might be different
If I had read the last page

[br]
And when our paths crossed again
I couldn’t believe we could be friends
Time gives us a chance to change our minds
As we take hold of the past and unwind

[ch]
Yeah, I was wrong from the beginning
Should have read the last page
No one is winning
When you don’t care what you say
I now know things were twisted
And hope the past soon fades
Things might be different
If I had read the last page

Thank you, Corey, for setting my lyrics on fire! lol Wonderful interpretation...really effective and everything fits together just so to pull in the listener! A dedicated and emotional performance! Thanks again!

Oh those brushes sure are jazzy, but the song itself is poppy in (sometimes) a Gilbert O'Sullivan way, but the guitar is sort of bluesy? I don't know. But yes, I really like what I hear, good stuff!

This is so beautiful, both lyrically and musically. I love it.

I was listening without reading. That "last page" line really jumped out at me. The repetition of "wrong from the beginning" is really moving and effective, too. The song has such smoldering intensity, full of longing and regret. Really nice work all around

Gotta love a good torch song. The guitar soloing was wonderfully bluesy. I love the perspective on this. We none of us get to read the last page until it's too late, n'est-ce pas?
