Liner Notes:

I've been sad. This started out as two verses of a poem jotted in my songwriting book. I know it needs phrasing work and now that I hear it back I can tell where, so it needs fixed up, but the idea is there if you are willing to subject yourself.

Lyrics:

River of Sorrow

There's a raging river called Sorrow
that runs throughout the land
it's fed by yesterdays and tomorrows
and things no one understands

if you let go and slip into the flow
it's depths will pull you down
your troubles end in the undertow
and in the river of Sorrow you'll drown

Chorus
Caught in the swirls the current carries you away
relaxed in the waves it's impossible to navigate
long ago, you sold your soul
saddness was the boat your rowed
and your lost in the river of Sorrow

there's a biting breeze on the shore
that chills you down to your soul
your memories aren't there anymore
as you walk the edge of the river alone

the bubbling water calls out your name
your tears will mingle in its dance
the river wants you to come and heal your pain
the river of Sorrow understands

Chorus
Caught in the swirls the current carries you away
relaxed in the waves it's impossible to navigate
long ago, you sold your soul
saddness was the boat your rowed
and your lost in the river of Sorrow

I am both sad and in awe. How can you keep making these songs that are beyond belief? So poignant, so incredible.

Very descriptive lyric. Very sad not an inkling of hope. Delivered as always beautifully.

such a pretty song for being so filled with despair, i especially like the writing of the verses and the manneoir in which you briefly lift the melody above the swirl and just as quickly let it fall back into the maelstrom

Oh, what a sad, but beautiful melody and your vocal is great on this. I love your vibrato. The doubled vox is a great touch. This has all the feels.

First, and probably least, it's wonderful engineering on the sound of your voice and guitar. A bit of echo for a faraway sound. I'm haunted by your delicate delivery. The word Sorrow is like a touch point throughout the song and is a focal point of power. Beautiful sound and story.

Gorgeous poignant aching. This is what music was made for - to be the sound of our emotions. Love love the tremor in your voice in this. The recording and harmonies were the icing on the cake. It’s a winner!!

Tammy, this is so amazingly lovely! That wonderful guitar grabbed me immediately! And your vocals are just so out-of-this-world exquisitely beautiful! That second vox track adds such magic to this already amazing recording! I love, Love, LOVE these lyrics and the whole concept of a River of Sorrow! This is easily the best song I have heard yet at this 50/90!!! So, so, so good!!!
