Find Your Truth

Liner Notes:

This came out quickly this morning .. born out of some self talk that has been going on in my head for awhile as I have contemplated very different kinds of opportunities in places very different than where Or how I am living - and the ambiguities and uncertainties always make the waters look so muddy that I fall back on what I know and what feels secure even when it is not something that makes me perhaps as happy as I could be... how does one know? I admire those people who take more risks and find their truth... but then again as I talk to people it seems that we all continue to seek out truth and may not ever really find it...

Lyrics:

Find Your Truth

V1
familiarity
creates
security
that builds
foundations
and fortresses
to stay

and that keep
everything....
everything
you know
the same .....

PC1
it is time to let go...
dare to challenge
what you know...

C
you must leave
mountains of history
seek seas of possibility
harvest fields of opportunity
to find your truth
find your truth...

V2
incongruity
fosters
ambiguity
that chases
new dreams
and desires
away

and that make
everything....
everything
you want
look gray....

PC2
let go of what you’ve got
dare to follow
what you want...

C
you must leave
mountains of uncertainty
seek seas of possibility
harvest fields of opportunity
to find your truth
find your truth...

B
why cling to rock
when you can sail?
follow your true North
and you ...won’t ....fail...

C
you must leave
mountains of uncertainty
seek seas of possibility
harvest fields of opportunity
to find your truth
find your truth...

Very powerful writing and one I think most of us relate to. We still long for our security blanket. Nice one!

Yeah. And the truth isn't in the finding, it's in the seeking, so we need to be able to let go of the old to seek the new. It's so hard. I think most of us hold on for security.

i can relate to the predicament you describe, but am not so certain that the search outside of ones comfort zone is for truth. at least for me, it is a step in personal growth, not neccessarily leading to anything specific...like in writing songs. i can easily write a song like a song i have wrtten before and it will probably meet with the agreement that it is a good song. but id rather write something that i dont know whether is good or bad and take the risk of risk of rejection. we might be able to discern the truth or falsehood of a particular situation but only if we have all the correct information,, which we seldom have. your song is thought provoking which is why i am provoked to share my thoughts on the issue of truth and expanded vision. we can get by if we find enough truth to guide us through the dark nights, but can get into trouble if we thik we have discovered an absolute truth that can be applied to . every eventuality,

Indeed... I was hoping to convey that we need to keep searching being true to our passions and not be complacent with the status quo that holds us in place. Our truths our fluid and responsive to everything around us - the truth that took us to where we are today is not our truth for tomorrow so we are ever searching to find it I believe! Thus, I was trying to convey that we have to look beyond where we are to keep true to ourselves.

Yes! This is a similar message to what I was trying to convey in 'Bubbles'. We need to break out of the narratives we tell ourselves that keep us safe and challenge our myths/theories of life. It's the only way to grow! Tell it sista Biggrin

This concept is a really big one and I like the terms you put it into in the pre-chorus and chorus. "Familiarity creates security". Ain't that the truth? Good lyrics!

The chorus especially touched me. Uncertainty is never comfortable to live in, but that is where possibility is born. Well written.
