Liner Notes:

I usually go over my lyrics with a fine-tooth comb before I post them but this one I've just splashed onto the screen and I'm going to let it wave in the wind.

Singer could be male or female.

Style? Singer-songwriter is the safest to put down, but who knows what you'll hear?

Let me know if you'd like to collaborate!

Cheers,
Doug

Lyrics:

Searching
I’m searching
I’ve been searching
For so long
Still don’t know
What I’m hoping to find
But I know
I’ll know
When I find it

Every road leads somewhere
Makes it hard to choose
And any road you take
You win some and you lose

Searching
I’m searching
I’ve been searching
For so long
Still don’t know
What I’m hoping to find
But I know
I’ll know
When I find it

Every door you open
Is like a brand new day
And every heart you capture
Wonders if you’ll leave or stay

Searching
I’m searching
I’ve been searching
For so long
Still don’t know
What I’m hoping to find
But I know
I’ll know
When I find it

And now I have some news for you
News both good and bad
I’ve made a lot of women (men) cry
But you’re the best I ever had
I’m heading out tomorrow
But you won’t wake up blue
I’m the best you ever had
But you’ll be leaving too

Searching
You’re searching
You’ve been searching
For so long
Still don’t know
What you’re hoping to find
But you know
You’ll know
When you find it

Searching
I’m searching
I’ve been searching
For so long
Still don’t know
What I’m hoping to find
But I know
I’ll know
When I find it

I know
I’ll know
When I find it

Good lyric, could be more than just singer-songwriter too. I don't know your work, but if that's loose, -- that works nicely too.

Good lyric! I using the power of close repetition this year and i like it! Certainly adds power here!

Really fine lyric that captures the ambiguities and uncertainties that we face and how we seek and struggle to move beyond. Great cadence. Well crafted.

A fine classic folk-country-singer-songwriter lyrics. The chorus looks loose with all those very short lines but I think it sings very well.
I'd like to demo this and make it a traditional singer-songwriter rendition of it. I hope it isn't taken already.
