Liner Notes:

Went out for a drive with my boys this morning. This is a travelogue in song form.

Lyrics:

Rolling down the gravel road
Canola flowers blooming bright and yellow
Rolling down the gravel road
Radio is cranked, I'm a happy fellow

What will I see?
What will I find?
Don't really matter much
It's not that kind
Of drive
Today's a chance
To be glad to be alive

Stopping by a little church
Cemetery full of flowers and trees
Stopping by a little church
Feeling the sunshine and the warm breeze

What will I see?
What will I find?
Don't really matter much
It's not that kind
Of drive
Today's a chance
To be glad to be alive

Driving through an empty town
The hollowed buildings give an eerie feel
Driving through an empty town
You understand the past and see what's real

What will I see?
What will I find?
Don't really matter much
It's not that kind
Of drive
Today's a chance
To be glad to be alive

Standing at the top of the world
On this little prairie hill
Gazing out for miles around
And everything is still
God is good to me
And my family

What will I see?
What will I find?
Don't really matter much
It's not that kind
Of drive
Today's a chance
To be glad to be alive

Holding out the notes in both the guitar and melody makes this feel like a lazy country road drive. And that bridge is cool. We need to have more of this kind of driving in our lives. We move too fast. Gotta slow down, enjoy your people, and the beauty of the world around us. That's what it's all about. And I'm not talking about the hokey pokey, although the hokey pokey is legit.

A beautiful sentiment! A reminder to slow down and take time for the things that are important to cherish while they're here.

Nice guitar and smooth delivery/lyrics. Reminding me of those Sunday drives.

Now I want to just take a drive around town and see the sights! Great as usual my friend!

Gotta love that kind of a feeling. Great writing here, Alex!

Think I've mentioned my fave singer is Manitoban and I've heard him talk a lot about his love of the prairies and the beauty of small towns - and some of the bittersweetness of their decline. So I can picture all of that as you take us along on your journey. You capture that carefree feeling of an aimless drive.

I love these kinds of drives. People don't believe me when I say that I do my best song writing when I'm walking or driving. This perfectly captures that feeling of just going with no destination in mind.
