Liner Notes:

Amanda: I live in a wonderfully idylic and beautiful place, and I appreciate, adore, and live within nature. It's not always kind, but it is always true. Humans are not. Humans are destroying the planet through their greed, love of money and power.

This song is my small way of venting Smile

Reading it again, once posted, I think it needs another verse maybe, and a bridge. If I write them I will add them. And I don't like the Again/Mayhem rhyme - it would be ok if I was looking for an 'off' rhyme, but it needs something closer to fit with the rest of the scheme. I will ponder on it Smile

If you are interested in collabing on this, please read my collab info on my profile page Smile

Love and peace,
Amanda

Lyrics:

v
Autumn leaves and fairy trees
Yellow moons and floating bees
The sound of life stays calm and free
How could we foresee

v
Hollyhocks and rows of peas
Summer heat beside the sea
Banks of swaying poppy seed
How could we foresee

pre ch
How could we be so foolish, how come we didn't see

Chorus
So much is gone
So much we'll never see again
Too much is greed
Too much money makes mayhem
We are condemned

v
Honey bees and old oak trees
Crawling ants that bite your knees
The insect world that keeps us free
How could we foresee

pre ch
How could we be so foolish, how come we didn't see

Chorus
So much is gone
So much we'll never see again
Too much is greed
Too much money makes mayhem
We are condemned

Nice job Amanda! I really like the rhyme format of your verses and the evocative imagery. Especially the insect verse! It reminds me how all those creatures we half-witted humans see as 'annoying' or 'pests' are vital to our survival and the ecosystem as a whole.

Just beautiful and so sadly true. If I didn't live where I do and see some nature, I think I'd go nuts. We need lots of songs like these!

You capture the beauty of nature so vividly and perfectly which makes the chorus that much more sad and painful. It is a powerful lyric that clearly conveys the destruction and disregard that many have for the environment.

I love songs like this. Pretty and reminding of what we have juxtapositioned against what we have and are doing adding reality and sadness

The juxtaposition of the lovely visuals in the verses, and then that powerful chorus!

Beautiful collaboration.

The alternately understated and forceful piano combines with the alternately ethereal and powerful vocals to evoke the many faces of nature, and also reinforce the important and forceful warning of the well-conceived lyrics. Dramatic and riveting!

dramatic rendering of these passionate lyrics, the music travels from eden to apocalypse in very short measure.
