Liner Notes:

Thank you, Liz, for these wonderful lyrics. They were easy to put into music. Great stuff. You write really well.

I added a rock tag coz the riff has a little bit same rhythm as Teen Spirit and also coz of the acoustic guitar solo. Yes but this is clearly a pop song, both the music and lyrics.

Lyrics:

V1
remember back in
eighty one
in the dorm rooms
having fun
when you kissed me
on the lips
April Fools Day

remember that we
shared a laugh
like old lovers
from the past
as we didn’t know
what it meant
or what to say

C
1 2 3 4
now I am coming to your door
5 6 7 8
and I can hardly wait
to see you again
because it’s been too long,
yes it’s been too long
my friend....

V2
remember back in
two thousand two
when you first said
I love you
but at the time
I was scared
and couldn’t stay

then we tried
to keep in touch
but with life it
was too much
so I’m so glad
I will see you
now today

C
1 2 3 4
now I am coming to your door
5 6 7 8
and I can hardly wait
to see you again
because it’s been too long,
yes it’s been too long
my friend....

B
they say good things will come
to those who can wait
so this time if you kiss me
I promise it will be great....

5 6 7 8
it will be great....

C
1 2 3 4
now I am coming to your door
5 6 7 8
and I can hardly wait
to see you again
because it’s been too long,
yes it’s been too long
my friend....

Classic 60s-ish guitar pop, Klaus. Great melody for Liz's strong lyric.

i love this. it is like a lost elvis costello song from the early 80a, when he was doing a lot of solo acoustic shows, you have the pop music writing chops down cold and deliver the goods with heart and soul.

yup i was going to say Nick Lowe late 70's! he was with Costello touring and they shared songs- they could have shared this- very cool

This is a lot of fun. I love the guitar playing and it's fun and makes me bop my head. I can't help but thinking if you slow it down and put it in minor it would be a very creepy stalker song *^_^*

This song is so fresh and alive, it is actually fun to listen too. I copy the Elvis Costello vibe, but love the Klaus sound more. Fantastic collab!

Such catchy lyrics ... love the way they survey a lifetime. Killer chorus and pure-pop vibe! This would be a hit in some sweet retro-pop universe. Acoustic solo a nice bonus!

Love that intro. It's immediately ear catching. And then that chorus is hella good. The counting adds to the happy, pop vibe. Very fun tune!

Ooh...that's sweet. That chorus is one for the ages, and instant singalong classic. The oh oh oh stuff is really nice. Maybe you could give us more. Hey, a guitar solo, too! Score!! This makes me want to look up some old friends. It has been too long

Beautiful lyrics, Liz! The melody is perfect and the music is perfect, too, Klaus! Love that guitar solo. Wonderful collab!

Fun catchy song. The "woah" is incredibly singalongable. Kind of nice having the missed opportunity song without too much regret or bitterness.

What a great lyric. And what a great melody. And that minor at the end of the chorus is tasty. Yes, yes, this is excellent all around. From top to bottom, from lyric to music, to vocal delivery. This is very, very good.
