Extinction Rebellion are conducting a week of protests in Bristol at the moment. Good on them, but I'm afraid I think we're already past the "too little, too late" stage of climate change.

Lyrics:

Homo Economicus defines himself by greed
Homo Economicus wants everything you need
Homo Economicus thinks that fascism is king
Because Homo Economicus knows they'll let him do his thing

This song's not a warning
And it won't save your soul
Because Homo Economicus
is already in control

Homo Economicus presents his lies as truth
Homo Economicus never bothers giving proof
Homo Economicus loves stunts like rolling coal
Homo Economicus has monetised his soul

This song's not a warning
And it won't save your soul
Because Homo Economicus
is already in control

Homo Economicus has never met the poor
Homo Economicus asks why they'd do that for
Homo Economicus fixates on what he earns
Homo Economicus will let this planet burn

This song's not a warning
And it won't save your soul
Because Homo Economicus
is already in control

They did an entire episode of Freakonomics radio show on this! They even used that phrase... Homo Economicus... or something very similar. It was about what it would look like to live purely by economic data. The results were surprising on several fronts. I like the arpeggiated keyboard in the background and the driving rhythm. Very dark lyrically, but I like dark!

"Is already in control" is spotlighted nicely. Vocal timing is on point too.

I feel like this song with the current arrangement would be the soundtrack for a boss fight for Double Dragon on NES. It's got that 80's synthy vibe.

It would help with the feedback process if you could elaborate more on your intention with the song. I guess it's a protest song, but exactly where and how do you want to use it as part of the protest?

This one is ready to go on a RUSH album. Great ironic twists in the lyrics.

This is really wonderful- great ideas, great lyric and music, and of course production and playing is top-notch. Got that wonderfully slightly creepy Bowie vibe that's perfect for this subject too--- and the lyric is very insightful, a real 'rock in the next century' kind of thing...

if you played this at three times the speed, it would sound the dead kennedys. as it is, it reminds me a bit of the stranglers.love the title phrase.

I'm afraid your chorus is far too accurate. Excellent job with the music, however.
