Liner Notes:

Argh so Gwyn gave me these lyrics to one of my titles several days ago. I've done 15 takes on my iPhone and I'm still not happy with it for the simple reason that the song keeps getting bigger and bigger. For prosody's sake I don't think that works but what are your thoughts?

Lyrics:

COMFORTABLE SILENCE
(c) 2019 Cooper/Jones

V1:
The world will keep turning
Whatever we do
There’s always a burning
Important issue
So we grab the chance
To step off the wheel
A rare circumstance
To just do as we feel

Chorus
There’s a comfortable silence between us
A mutual alliance that’s seamless
At the end of a long working day
Saying nothing’s the right thing to say

V2:
Life is demanding
In so many ways
Needs careful handling
To get through the days
Value the calm
And tranquillity
Treasure the warmth
And telepathy

Chorus
There’s a comfortable silence between us
A mutual alliance that’s seamless
At the end of a long working day
Saying nothing’s the right thing to say

Bridge
We could just talk forever
Or we could lay here
Dreaming of whatever
Until our minds are clear

Chorus
There’s a comfortable silence between us
A mutual alliance that’s seamless
At the end of a long working day
Saying nothing’s the right thing to say

classy song. kind of an intellectual patsy cline track.the lyrics are more paul simon than lefty frizell, does it work? definitey. but it might be too good for todays country muic market. .that chorus is so elegant and your voice handles it well.

That is indeed a keeper. It might not fit in the box of hit formulas, but it has a timeless, classic feel that uplifts it. And the hook on the chorus is perfect-- "Saying nothing is the right thing to say".

Can't imagine why you'd not be happy with this! I love the lyrics and the simple way you brought them to life. Great song!

It is an intelligent song! The lyrics are excellent, with the use of very descriptive words. Even some simple rhymes are really good like do and issue (a classic rhyme but only if you use stress in the right place). I really like this one its got a real easy to listen to feel, yet lyrically delivers a punch!

I love that title and that last line hits hard, especially when you hold it out that long. Beautiful.

Yes... lyrics are just *on* and the music is beautiful. I think it works just fine as is.
Great work, Gwyn and Georgie!

Looking at the lyrics...v1 is clear to me that worrying about politics is not practical for everyday life. The strong chorus suggests possible arguing going on at home after work. v2...very nice again...value the calm stands out for me. I also like telepathy to signal a kind of I already know what you are thinking. Still, a little bit sad with a communication bust. However, that's country music. Interesting bridge. The first line we could just talk forever. That works for me because the whole point is we don't have anything to talk about. The attitude is there and that works both ways. I think it's a great lyric. Great job on this Gwyn. I'm ready for the audio now...hold. guitar...vocals now...sounds good...a little hard to pick out the lyrics...guitar a little too loud...nice singing though...life is demanding so many ways...get through our day....nice melody...treasure the warmth...strong singing....guitar playing too hard...I think...just my opinion...very good singing and that overrules...until our minds are clear....softening on guitar now...can clearly understand the lyrics...better...at the end of a long working day saying nothings the right thing to say....nice hold on that note...nice ending. Ok, I like it. I gave my honest opinion on everything here...I think. Well done.
