Liner Notes:

This is an alternate version of the prior above, up-list track,
-- "We're the Fucking Band - American 2020 Vision" (c) 2019 ustaknow (alias), *revised with a Voice Over, read by @billwhite51 Bill White that I mixed in. The idea for two voices, over the track was suggested by Bill during extended feedback, -- always good to get comment-feedback!, aye!

Audacity has virtually no "automation", but for some reason upon import of that vo-track, "normalized" the tracks with an extensive +dB up tick, -- so that "help" Smile added some work; but had some "happy accidents" too, I guess!

The Voice Over Text here:
===================

Voice over -- read by Bill White:

We're not revolutionaries, we're the fucking band
We sing our songs. just for you, just consume’em man
And pay us with your love-and-sweat, and oh, money too

O: Who are you fucking people!?

No, don't elevate us, to your saviors, stand, oh no
Look, we're here 3 days next week, prepaid, no checks, no not from you

O: what do you want from us!?

It's hysterical isn't it, -- the hysteria, and oh, the megalomania

We don't want a revolution, no not now
And didn't know how, to do one, no not then
We do want, our piece of percentage, my good friend

Look, -- you can even come on stage, and raise your hand!

O: Again, what do you want from us?!

As of, July 8th this year we got seven-hundred sixty-six candy dates, -- grim
But the Highlander rule says, there can be only one

Well, they do speak of influence, and ball busting clues
With idiotic, calls from, the small minded cues

O: So, what's next for you?!

We'll stomp our feet, and try to cheat, instead of just being won
One America, …
You known, the 111 of the 411, "won… won… won" ... ... ...

We're not revolutionaries, we're the fucking band
We sing our songs. just for you, just consume’em man

We're the Fucking Band

===============================
Note: a D&C's done after a "Miscarriage"

Lyrics:

We're not revolutionaries, we're the fucking band
We sing our songs. just for you, just consume’em man
And pay us with your love-and-sweat, and oh, money too

Don't elevate, to your saviors, stand oh no
Here 3 days next week, prepaid not checks, no not from you
It's hysterical the hysteria, and oh, the megalomania

And you all used to look quite like Transylvania
Now look like Fred Rogers sweet little neighbors too
Who've filled their diapers with crap from screaming hernias

We don't want a revolution, no not now
And didn't know how, to do one, no not then
We do want, our piece of percentage, my good friend

You can even come on stage, and raise your hand
As of, July 8th this year we got seven-hundred-sixty-six, candy dates, grim
But the Highlander rule says, there can be only one

Was there enough to choose from, I only hear from some
They speak of influence, but only, hear ball busting clues
With idiotic, calls from, the small minded clones

Who stomp their feet, and try to cheat, instead of just being won
One America, …
Won… won… won

this is going on the Big Dig album for sure....unless you want to put it somewhere else. excellent job with the music, the mix, and vocals. my favorite since notre dame.

@billwhite51 -- this also speaks to my thoughts on useful-comment -- seek it out; what if I had not felt able to reach out to anyone and ask "anything"; or, if one does not feel they can comment authentically if even a new direction or "out of the box", so to speak? And yet when someone "risks" it and that comment, run with, "makes" the track in some new direction, -- there seems to be only a positive response. As it's said, otherwise, just skip over it, what else. Well, it seems necessary to diligently push back against the "creative-push-back" that, otherwise causes elevator music Wink At least for ones own work. They may not be "great songs", but they're not "forget-able" either Smile

Well done guys. Really interesting! Music to get your teeth into! Like a painting - you see/ hear different things each time you listen. I have done twice and will again.

Hey @coolparadiso -- thanks for commenting. I am glad you "get it" in some way. It's a song that took on a life of it's own. It was from a, or some 5 min write, -- funny how that happens and very nice when it does! And, again, thanks to Bill for his willingness to comment-feedback, if even in a new direction, you know! That's the best, imo/ime.

This has a unique sound with both vocals doing two different things.
I have heard stuff from classic bands/artists (who I can't remember the names of, but who are probably actually staples in any respectable music person's library haha) in passing that were like messages put to their brand of classic rock (like 70s stuff). PSAs almost.
That's what this feels like - a classic rock music backing with vocals doing melodies and other vocals doing the protest/message.
I've been seeing many article titles (but haven't read the actual article) regarding payment and royalties and such for musicians on varying streaming services - mostly negative stuff. This reminds me of that.
And...kudos for the Highlander line!!
Nice work, you two

good jam, lads! I could hear also some micro snippets of some "american" sounds at the back - maybe a banjo here and there, a tex-mex band, etc.. It also, god forbid, sounds perversely patriotic, whatever that means these days.
