Skirmish Prompt: Moon Over ______

So this is my second song to this prompt. The first was a tender supportive love/friendship song.

This is not. It is about camping. And sadly there is an element of truth in nearly all of the lines. And sadly I may have been unduly influences by O. Green....

Lyrics:

Moon Over The Latrine

V1
there were beautiful white birch trees
and statuesque white pines
it was a pristine primitive campsite
undisturbed by humankind

a clearing amid tall green ferns
made a gorgeous spot for our tent
next to a cool babbling creek
it was perfectly heaven sent

Abby went out to gather dead wood
While Emily made the fire scar
I dug a scenic latrine hole
you could sit and watch the stars

C
there was a bright moon in the sky
and a pale moon behind
at our makeshift latrine

mosquitoes were stinging up high
with black flies bitting behind
at our makeshift latrine

sometimes camping is not
as peaceful as it first seems
when your moon hangs...
hangs over the latrine

V2
we packed in a lot of health food
nuts, granola, and dried fruit
meals packed with organic fibers
sure created a lot of poop

we’d coat our butts with bug spray
try to minimize time at task
but when it came to biting flies
nothing protected our ass...

within two days we were covered
with itchy painful red welts
those especially bothersome
were those below our belts

C
there was a bright moon in the sky
and a pale moon behind
at our makeshift latrine

mosquitoes were stinging up high
with black flies bitting behind
at our makeshift latrine

sometimes camping is not
as peaceful as it first seems
when your moon hangs...
hangs over the latrine

B
we tried to make the best of it
but latrine problems just grew worse
as when batting at flies Abby slipped
into poison ivy bare butt first

someday we all might camp again
if we can recover from this hell
but next time we go camping
we’ll pitch our tent in a motel

C
there was a bright moon in the sky
and a pale moon behind
at our makeshift latrine

mosquitoes were stinging up high
with black flies bitting behind
at our makeshift latrine

sometimes camping is not
as peaceful as it first seems
when your moon hangs...
hangs over the latrine

I have a feeling this is from experience! I am laughing and remembering some of my similar camping adventures! Brilliant.

OK, everyone else back off; if Liz will let me, I'm claiming these utterly wonderful, humorous lyrics to put to music!

Ha ha ha, idea very well stolen Smile I am sure Mr Green will really appreciate the adoration this rendition sends his way, especially the sentiments expressed Wink
Very clever and fun to read write Smile

Very well written, I look forward to hear Odilon create some music for it on it

Camping sucks. This is one of the reasons why. Poor Abby. It wasn't enough that she mosquitos and flies feasting on her rump, she had to take it to the next awful level. Your drew the the only logical conclusion.... motel camping. it's perfect. Solves every problem and probably includes a pool.

A great song to sing around a campfire.

Wow this was unexpected! Very clever! Haha - I haven't seen your other skirmish song for this challenge yet but will do so forthwith! Biggrin Biggrin

haha very funny. i like how the story unfolds and escalates, i love the phrase scenic latrine - you paint a vivid picture and a sensory one too with a lot of soreness and irritation!

hahahaha. This is wonderful. The visuals crack me up. Hope this gets a proper demo in the end.

Ha! Yep. It's why I at least try to camp where there are portajohns. They keep some of the bugs out. This created a visceral response while I was reading it.
