Lyrics:

If I came back as I am now
To you as you were then
Would we part forever
Or fall in love again

Ask the babies
They still know
What we forget
As we grow
So before we let it go
Ask the babies

If the universe is moving,
What is it moving through?
Is it action and only action
That animates a point of view?

Ask the babies
They still know
What we forget
As we grow
So before we let it go
Ask the babies

Babies ask invisible friends
What we were before
will we be after the end?
While the ghosts of old folks howl
I dont believe you loved me then
Because you dont love me now

Oh really?

Just ask the babies
They will know
We forget
As we grow
So before we let it go
Ask the babies

The better kind of "love song" Wink -- good one. Track sounds good.

Love the first verse. Haunting melody. You've given me a new idea! yay!

Interesting idea, as a what if question. Love the melody, works nicely.

Beautiful loving song Bill. I couldn't stop smiling while listening. Indeed, ask the babies. They know.
If I had the chance I would gladly purchase your song for $100 Smile

Lovely lyrics. Very effective and on point every line. Solid melody and passionate singing. First verse is no doubt good, they all are, but that second verse really touched me.

Babies don't need smartphones or social media. And childhood is getting shorter and teenage mixes with free young adulthood and it gets longer. We just don't grow up anymore.

This line really stands out for me
"If the universe is moving,
What is it moving through?
Is it action and only action
That animates a point of view? "

And I like how you follow your howl with a line that really sounds like you're howling!

Some really complex ideas presented in a form that's a pleasure to listen to. I always enjoy your vocal interpretation.

Very philosophical and reflective, and the music/vocals reflect that. So many great lines: "the ghosts of old folks howl" my favorite.

Good track, excellent lyrics with a great concept and some really stand out lines like the first verse. Good track also, especially the way you deliver "you don't love me now!".

Very passionate delivery. I think there's a lot of universal ideas/questions in this. Good melody and guitar playing. I like the time you take to tell the story....lets it breathe and sink in.

Very thoughtful lyrics, presented with folksy charm that's a joy to listen to. You have a knack for presenting meaningful words in a direct, audience-friendly musical manner with your very accessible guitar and vocals, and it works wonderfully here.

Reading the lyrics now. Nicely done and ask the babies is key to this song. Ready for the audio now...hold. Big vocals...nice melody, works well with the lyrics. I really like the vocals. This is classic. Wow, a real tear-jerker as I can relate. Sadly, I didn't get that chance. Nice song!

Wise and funny. I'm especially fond of the "ghosts" verse, I think that's where everything finally gets put on the plate, so to speak.
