Liner Notes:

This song started out as a skirmish on Sunday but now, three days later I have managed to finish it. It needs some tweaking and lots of production but I am very proud of this song! Thanks to everyone who has already commented on it, you are all lovely! I hope you enjoy the full version now. The prompt for the skirmish was 'Don't Rock My World' - inspired by a big Californian Earthquake.

Earthquake
Words and Lyrics by Matt Rivers © 2019

Verse 1
The sun is gone but the night is bright,
Something hanging in the air tonight.
When I call you there’s a look in your eyes.
A storm is coming better improvise.
We better improvise.

Verse 2
I never know where you coming from,
Where you been or what the hell you done.
There’s a secret in the palm of your hand
But telling me has never been your plan.
I can feel it, I can feel it coming!

Chorus
You’re an earthquake baby
Make a whole town crazy
I think it’s going to break me
Tumble to the floor now baby
You can be my lady and I won’t let go

B Chorus
So shake it out, shake it out, shake it out.
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out.

Verse 3
We getting lost in a firestorm,
City jumping as you break my bones.
Nothing’s ever gonna be the same.
Loving you has gone and changed the game.
I can feel it, I can feel it coming!

Chorus
You’re an earthquake baby
Make a whole town crazy
I think it’s going to break me
Tumble to the floor now baby
You can be my lady and I won’t let go

B Chorus
So shake it out, shake it out, shake it out.
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out.

Bridge
Don’t rock my world,
I’m not sure if I can take it.

B Chorus
Just shake it out, shake it out, shake it out.
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out.

Chorus
You’re an earthquake baby
Make a whole town crazy
I think it’s going to break me
Tumble to the floor now baby
You can be my lady and I won’t let go

B Chorus
Just shake it out, shake it out, shake it out.
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out.

Pretty darn cool "half" song. This really rocks. The lyric is to the point and you pulled it off great. Fine job. BTW I'm almost always late. You came in before me.

Ooooo, that is very nice! The rhythm of the lines is powerful, and the story intriguing. Please let me know if you finish it up; I'd like to re-visit.

this is great ! the music and the lyric totally match each other well and the energy and phrasing are perfect for this- hope you add to it and finish it up, its a great groove and a great song-in-the making

You've captured that sense of uncertainty in a somewhat "unstable", and/or secretive person

This is a great percussive, oh so danceable groove. I love the classic image of attraction as an overwhelming force of nature.

Cool strum riff patten - love the drive and energy to the rhythm and the wonderful lilt in the melody. Powerful analogy that drives home the force of attraction!

Ooh juicy guitar chops there Matt! I like where this is headed - well worth developing further I reckon! Great skirmish. "Shake it out...shake it out...shake it out" (still stuck in my head) Biggrin
