Liner Notes:

Was talking to @metalfoot today and said I was really trying to write less sad, poor me type songs and this just kind of flowed out. Trying to be a little more fun and write about different things this year. I need to expand beyond the pain!

Lyrics:

I Write The Lyrics
(c) 2019 Deanna Sweidel

It’s that time of year my friends
Where all of my time I will spend
Writing the songs
About all his wrongs
And they way that he broke me again

It’s that time of year my pals
Where all of my extra morale
I put in words
You’ve never heard
That are painful like a root canal

I write the lyrics
That make people weep
About my own life
The words are so deep
You’d never believe
It’s all oh so real
How one girl’s heartbreak
Can make everyone feel

It’s that time of year my friends
Where all of my time I will spend
Writing the lines
That will unwind
The story of my heart on the mend

It’s that time of year my pals
Where all of my extra morale
I’ll use to heal
From pain so real
So I come out a much better gal

I write the lyrics
That make people weep
About my own life
The words are so deep
You’d never believe
It’s all oh so real
How one girl’s heartbreak
Can make everyone feel

I’ll turn it around this year
Make happy stories to hear
It’s all so new
Look how I grew
Maybe I won’t seem so damn dreary

I write the lyrics
That make you smile
About my own life
The words are less vile
You’ll never believe
Oh how things can change
My line are less sad
In my world rearranged

Yes! I like that you got a lyric out of your plans for moving on, lyrically. And as usual you have a fine ear for meter and rhyme.

Deanna, you know I love your lyrics, and there's nothing as strong as words inspired by pain and sadness. They touch everyone. Still your songtexts are so much more than pain and sadness. It's wonderful that you want to evolve, but there's definitely nothing wrong with the lyrics you write. I love even this lyric, how you word it all, it's just great! And if you feel like you come out a better person, then know that I feel the same of me writing songs on beautiful lyrics and sharing them with this fine community of songwriters. Biggrin

Great meta-song, particularly enjoyed rhymes like root canal with morale. And nothing wrong with drawing on pain, I think it's a core idea of songwriting, to touch the tender spot that's not expressed in other ways. That's how the listener feels less alone. That said, a little sunshine is good too Smile

Well done! I really like positive songs. I have a reminder on my wall "Think Positive" and although most of my songs over the years have been dark and blue my favorites, and I really mean this, are the positive songs I have done. I'm not saying that sharing the blues is not a good thing just saying that from my experience I did better being happy. Your writing is excellent with great rhymes and storytelling.

Yay for the expansion and the self-reflection. My second meta-song of the day wooohooo!
