Lyrics:

V1
remember back in
eighty one
in the dorm rooms
having fun
when you kissed me
on the lips
April Fools Day

remember that we
shared a laugh
like old lovers
from the past
as we didn’t know
what it meant
or what to say

C
1 2 3 4
now I am coming to your door
5 6 7 8
and I can hardly wait
to see you again
because it’s been too long,
yes it’s been too long
my friend....

V2
remember back in
two thousand two
when you first said
I love you
but at the time
I was scared
and couldn’t stay

remember we tried
to keep in touch
but with life it
was too much
so I’m so glad
I will see you
now today

C
1 2 3 4
now I am coming to your door
5 6 7 8
and I can hardly wait
to see you again
because it’s been too long,
yes it’s been too long
my friend....

B
they say good things will come
to those who can wait
so this time if you kiss me
I promise it will be great....

5 6 7 8
it will be great....

C
1 2 3 4
now I am coming to your door
5 6 7 8
and I can hardly wait
to see you again
because it’s been too long,
yes it’s been too long
my friend....

What a wonderful idea! Spot on for the skirmish and a glimpse into your creative mind. Nice!

Very efficient, combining two skirmishes. It's a good write for either one. Well done.

Fun song. The counting is immediately catchy, and the theme is just a really good time.

You've always had a knack of taking an idea and somehow weaving it into the whole "fabric" of a song. I like how the chorus has the protagonist being so excited about the meeting that (s)he starts to hum(?) a kind of children's nursery rhyme kind of thing.

This is a bonza song! Smile

I'm going to work on this next weekend and see how it sings if you don't mind.

This has a great rhythmic feel to it. I can hear a sultry vocal and a blistering blues shuffle.

Well done. I can't wait to hear what @Klaus comes up with for it.
