Music now 16 July

lyrics only today - everyone in bed

i was thinking how hard it is for desert flowers to survive - but they do- sort of translated it to life

Lyrics:

Your life is like a Desert flower
Measured only by the hour
A Struggle to survive
And you grew and stayed alive

You prospered where others failed
Your beauty it still prevailed
You know when to keep your head low
And the time to stand up and grow

You fought the soil around you
You sustained yourself that’s true
You picked the time to stand tall
You are certainly no kind of fool

You look towards the sunlight
You hide in the dead night
You pick the time to shine
Thats how things turn out fine

You save all the rain that falls
You keep what comes from all the squalls
You save it like your life blood
You use it to grow next years bud

You fought the soil around you
You sustained yourself that’s true
You picked the time to stand tall
You are certainly no kind of fool

You rest as the stars blaze above
You flourish with others love
You have all seeing eyes
You show us you now are wise

You’ve tamed the thunder and lightning
Proved it is worth fighting
Pleasure in your giving
You’ve lived a life worth living

You fought the soil around you
You sustained yourself that’s true
You picked the time to stand tall
You are certainly no kind of fool

Beautiful metaphor you used! For me it's about finding hope during a struggle

Agreed! Wonderful metaphor and beautifully written. Can't wait to hear it to music

Such an acknowledgement and tribute to the successful struggle to survive, and how much goes into it. The last two stanzas were especially moving to me.

Very beautiful set of lyrics, please do tell when you put it to music

Words of strength and wisdom! That image is good for my current life struggles. I'm glad I chose this lyric to read today! Well done!

Great use of cleverly disguised parallel meanings. The uke keeps it all from sounding too serious. Good work.

Really well written with a bouncy feel to the melody. A happy-day song. I really liked your lyrics. At first it seemed you were singing about someone close in your life, then it morphed in my mind to one closest--closest to the soul, whose life and character are tied up in these lyrics and it made it that much more endearing to me.
