Demo:

Liner Notes:

My first effort for the 2019 50/90 - was going to be a simple 1 guitar, vocal and drums song - but I got carried away.... first part was a one take effort - then I added some more guitar, then bass, then lead and then some backing vocals - it was fun

Lyrics:

Lyrics (as I wrote them - not necessarily how I sung them)

As another chapter closes
And another door it opens
I guess, I guess
I guess I'm moving on

And when the daylight breaks
It's another change I gotta take
I guess I'm moving on

I've been sitting still
For a long time now
Looking at nothing
And wondering how

I guess I know
The time is right
So I'll pack my bags
I'll be gone in the the new day light

As another chapter closes
And another door it opens
I guess, I guess
I guess I'm moving on

And when the daylight breaks
It's another change I gotta take
I guess I'm moving on

And when I get there
I suppose I'll wait
For a little while
Before I state

Time is up
I need a new scene
And I'll hitch a ride
Onto my new dream

As another chapter closes
And another door it opens
I guess, I guess
I guess I'm moving on

And when the daylight breaks
It's another change I gotta take
I guess I'm moving on

(Variations of chorus and lead to the end)

I like the drive of the acoustic. It sounds like moving on. It's determined.
Maybe some strategic variation in the dynamics might make certain places pop a bit more, add some variety.
Interesting combo of phrases in "chapter closes" and "door it opens". Not what I was expecting!
Good stuff! Smile

I really enjoy the refrain of "I guess I'm moving on" which works very well for me. I agree with Backwards Amanda that the driving acoustic helps move the song forward and relates to the refrain very well.

Good hook and I like the chord progression at the end of the bridge (or is that the end of the verse?). Good guitar soloing too!

Lots of interesting things going on, underneath the vocals, where the chorus dominates, and we're left in no doubt you're moving on. Works very well, as it adds to the momentum, and sense of movement. Sounds great.

Really nice laid-back feel ... love the overlapping vocals. Guitar sounds great, and the melody is sweet as candy!
