Liner Notes:

This is written in less than an hour -- I'd estimate 30 minutes actually! It's about Mel Robbin's 5-second rule.

Will add demo later when the housemates aren't asleep. Smile

Lyrics:

She counts down from five each morning
As if it was an alarm
Like a rocketship about to blast off
and needs to be disarmed

she swears by her little countdown
to get her out of bed
i asked her what drives her
and this is what she said

wake up before your resistance does
wake up before your fear
don’t let anything stand between you
and all that you hold dear
wake up before your worst nightmare
smacks you in the head
and wake up before your waking life
gets dragged back into bed
wake up wake up
wake up wake up

i tried to do what she did
but it just wasn’t the same
i couldn’t find the energy
to win that little game

but what i found that woke me
more than any alarm can do
is get accountability
from somebody like you

wake up before your resistance does
wake up before your fear
don’t let anything stand between you
and all that you hold dear
wake up before your worst nightmare
smacks you in the head
and wake up before your waking life
gets dragged back into bed
wake up wake up
wake up wake up

wake up wake up
wake up wake up
wake up wake up

wake up before your resistance does
wake up before your fear
don’t let anything stand between you
and all that you hold dear
wake up before your worst nightmare
smacks you in the head
and wake up before your waking life
gets dragged back into bed
wake up wake up
wake up wake up

Suzanne, I love this!

"wake up before your resistance does
wake up before your fear"

Though I never had problems waking up (I usually jump out of bed "like a toast"), I've had close ones who went through depression, and I wish I could give them this advice.

Love it, looking forward to listening to the demo!

I agree with Elesimo... I wish I had wrote those killer lines!

Nicely focused lyric with a vivid delivery. Love the repetition.
