Sitting here thinking about missing out on some great stuff in life knowing I get in my own way. And this just came out

Lyrics:

Beaten Down
(c) 2019 - Deanna Sweidel

Beaten down
And broken
Can’t take any more
Rejection

Beaten down
And lonely
As I stare at my
Reflection

I did it to myself
I reached too high above
I did it to myself
I sacrificed your love

Beaten down
And broken
I walked far away
Without you

Beaten down
And lonely
But I made my choice
It’s true

I did it to myself
I reached too high above
I did it to myself
I sacrificed your love

For what? No grace
I did not win
Didn’t make it like I thought
For what? No fame
I did not get
Get to make it to the top

I did it to myself
I reached too high above
I did it to myself
I sacrificed your love

I did it to myself
I reached too high above
I did it to myself and
I sacrificed your love

Beaten down
And broken
Can’t take any more
Rejection

Beaten down
And lonely
As I stare at my
Reflection

The rejection/reflection rhyming pair work really well. And the EMOTION... just oozes out of every pore here. A real heartbreaker of a song lyric.

i can hear Pink singing this. and that is a compliment. .

So very raw and honest. Some of the best use of first person I've seen in a song. You use repetition to good effect - mirroring the self-flagellation of the 'singer'.

You convey the harsh reality of recognizing and knowing that sometimes we create the sh*t we have to walk through. It is always easier to see this in retrospect. You capture this feeling well and that emotion is so relatable. Well done!

Can picture the singer sitting in a dissheveled state at a kitchen table piled with stuff and an overflowing sink of dirty dishes on the counter behind. Well done!

I love bill's choice of singer and andy's imagery for the video...fits these lyrics quite well.
Full of rhythm and emotion like others have said.
Relatable feelings expressed here.

What a great lyric. Is it okay if I musicify it? I already have an idea.
