Moonlight Falls On Every Path
Post date:
Liner Notes:
This was done as almost-spoken-word singing late one night back in July, with an almost utterly still backing track. I didn't feel 100% good with the result, so I left it alone. I'm putting it up here to memorialize the effort, and perhaps I'll revisit what to do with it music-wise.
Lyrics:
Moonlight falls on every path
Echoes of me disappear
You won't know which way to go
But I tell you I'm still here
As my elder did for me
I can show you how to see
Still, the choice remains with you
You decide what you must do
Clouds obscure reflected light
Silver shadows disappear
Darkness is a friend of truth
Bringing other senses near
As my elder did for me
I can show you how to see
Open wide to all you hear
Listen deep, befriend your fear
Moonlight falls on every path
Echoes of me disappear
You won't know which way to go
But I tell you I'm still here

this is a very appropriately mysterious and evocative lyric- nicely done!!! some great images and thoughts...
I wish I could have heard the spoken word/musical version. This is awesomely poetic and made for music! Otherworldly and spiritual.
Beautifully poetic and truly evocative with the feeling stirred by the images. There is a lovely chant like quality that is almost magical as I read it -- one of those songs I want to lean into to hear every nuanced thought
Oh this is wonderful writing! Evocative, descriptive, awesome!
I enjoyed this. It's got a very nice cadence to it. It scans really easily. Quite musical lyrics.
Well, I'm glad you revisited this one and left it here for us to enjoy. It definitely has a melody to it. Not sure what genre, etc, but Musey knows.

I particularly like these lines: 'Darkness is a friend of truth' and 'Listen deep, befriend your fear'. Lots of truth sitting in those lines.
I can't decide if the narrator is a ghost, a lost lover, a spirit animal or what, which is way cool because it leaves my mind open to some sort of hybrid spirit/being that could prove to be very interesting indeed.
