Liner Notes:

I found this completed set of lyrics that I had completely forgotten about right next to another one written in the same session that I posted a while ago (Mirror Girl, if you're interested). Why did I post one and not the other? No idea.

This was written with the help of botnik.org, a predictive text bot that has different "voices" based on feeding in different kinds of text. This one was fed on Simon & Garfunkel lyrics.

So this is structurally completely bizarre and I'm not sure I can make it sound like it isn't, but I'd like to try.

Incidentally, "read" in this context is meant to be pronounced like "red". The grammar is odd enought that might not be obvious when just reading it.

Lyrics:

Once upon a song about days of gentlemen,
Glove patrol car passing by and by halted in the night,
A little worse for wear, but feeling alright with whores
In flocks on pavement and rocks,
Say goodbye to your heart

Chorus:
"I blessed you," he said, "and who will pray me
Speak love, who'll feed me as I take my ease, lay me
Down like a silent fire,
Raise me up with joy like a heavenly choir?
Who will pray me
Speak love, who'll feed me as I take my ease, lay me
Down like a silent fire,
Raise me up with joy to the heavenly choir?
Who will shake out the brushes and show me they're trying,
And lie lie lie lie without lying?"

I can do better, I can be your forever
And blessed is the man ain't you my little number,
Words read gather where you cannot hear
I feel I really know where they been

Bridge:
And if life is lookin' up
Raise your gaze to the clouds,
Infinite friendship
Causes pain forevermore in the crowd

CHORUS

"I bought my face that wells light
That split and burned the voices in my head" she said,
"A Jack once loved is moved to song,
I lie about joy while for love I long,
And frankly the time echoed in walks down gentlemen's friendly words.
Is that what I like?" said she with a tear,
"I lie about joy oh

Who will pray me
Speak love, who'll feed me as I take my ease, lay me
Down like a silent fire,
Raise me up with joy to the heavenly choir?
Who will shake out the brushes and show me they're trying,
And lie lie lie lie without lying?"

Please keep your comments respectful, honest, and constructive. Please focus on the song and not the demo.

I don't think the predictive text bots are going to take over any time soon but there are definite hints and aspects of S&G's style to this. Fun stuff!

This one turned out pretty cool, using the botnik. The different meanings of lie and lay are well used here. I'm getting different ideas as I read through - love, lust, friendship, frustration. I like how I'm having to pay attention to what is being said - subtle changes in phrasing can change the meaning.
