tc: Liz posted another well written lyric was kind enough to allow me to musicify it.

Liz says: I'm so grateful to TC for adding his soul and spirit on this song. He does such a wonderful job capturing the sentiment. I'm always impressed with his music.

Lyrics:

take off your mask ...
leave it on the table
I want to hear your thoughts
with no parables and fables

take off your mask...
keep it in the closet
I need to look deep in your eyes
to see what we've got

C
we hide behind masks
that give us false protection
from fears about feelings
messy resurrections

but we can't bury truths
that linger with intention
We can't run from our hearts
We can't run from our hearts

V2
take off your mask...
set it on the bookshelf
I need to watch your expressions
reflections of ourselves

take off your mask...
set it on the nightstand
I want to see and trace your lips
take your face in my hands

C
we hide behind masks
that give us false protection
from fears about feelings
messy resurrections

but we can't bury truths
that linger with intention
We can't run from our hearts
We can't run from our hearts

This is wonderful- a very incisive and well written lyric, and the musical setting is a great fit- I like that 'gentle side' TC, where you're singing and playing quieter ,and this is a perfect opportunity.

great job!

really cool guitar breaks after the first chorus. Liz has written some fine lyrics on the mask theme, and you have found the ideal music to get them dancing.

saw this pairing and knew it'd be great; was not wrong.
I feel like I repeat myself a lot: "awsome lyrics, awesome instrumentation"...but that simply is the truth.
I know kahlo always writes top notch stuff, and tc plays acoustic expertly...so what else is there to say? Smile
The lyrics are relatable...

Really good lyrics. We do all hide the truth, even from ourselves. Especially from ourselves sometimes. I like the melody and treatment of the lyrics. Strong performance. Great stuff.
