Roel: The music for the song is created on an evening with new friends on the road. The weather was hot, they wanted to hear something from me, I didn't have my lyrics around (I know no single lyric of my songs by heart), so I decided to open up a lyric I liked on 50/90 and try to make it into a song immediately. I recorded it on my phone. The mono mp3 file was edited just a bit because I started the second chorus totally wrong. Biggrin I kept the background noises for the atmosphere and the applause of 4 people for my ego's purpose. Haha. It's clear that it's not a finished song, there is no consistency: two intro's, many variations in the verses, prechorus and chorus, but I liked it enough to upload it just the way it is.

Dear Kristi, if you ever want to song to be more consistent, I'd love to work it out better! Thanks for your beautiful heart-felt lyrics. Smile

Lyrics:

No Matter What

I guess I’ll get on the road now
There’s nothing here for me
I’ve outgrown my job and
It’s time to chase some dreams

I’ve pack up all my things now
Who knows what lies ahead
(But) my homegrown core values
Will line the roads I tread

[pre-ch]
Oh, I know I’m gonna win and lose too
But I know how to beat the blues because

[ch]
You gave me love
No matter what
You told me to (always)
Trust your gut
I’m not afraid to ride
Thru a trail of dust
Cuz you gave me love
No matter what

I’ll walk a fine line at times
We do what we must do
When I grow up I’ll rest and
Sing about love and the blues

[pre-ch]
Oh, I may not always do what I should
But I can look at life under the hood because

[ch]
You gave me love
No matter what
You told me to (always)
Trust your gut
I’m not afraid to ride
Thru a trail of dust
Cuz you gave me love
No matter what

[br]
Don’t you worry about me
I’ve been in great company
You’ve built a dynasty
And I have been so lucky

Repeat lift #1, ch

Well done, -- that's the way to do it, on the spot demo like this. Won't take anything to finalise directions; it all works as it is too, as I hear it. Great quality for a phone track too, imo.

I "cheated" with the sound taking 5 minutes of work to turn it into a stereo track that also sounds like stereo. Smile

Beautiful and I think the background sounds really add to the song.

Wow! How nice did this turn out? I love the background sounds and the message conveyed. Super song!

the outdoor sounds give the song the feel of a movie soundtrack. I ould really relate to the line, "When I grow up I’ll rest and
Sing about love and the blues" also like the chorus quite a bit.

Hi Roel! Hey! It's quite appropriate to have that outdoor ambience as that first verse talks about getting on the road...etc..! I think you deliver it quite naturally and you're "trusting your gut" too! Ha Very heartfelt. Thank you!! Oh, and the clapping at the end is sweet! Real stuff in real time, I like it!
