Ok...i've already said what there is to say about singing and me.
But huge thanks to @yam655 for some advice and insight on the voice and using it. I didn't quite do what he was suggesting, but that advice is to be used in the future; soon.
No, this is just being alone at the house and opening my mouth and trying.
I went through some guitar samples to find one that I felt comfortable with as I tried to hum along with it, and found this one in Am.
The words came and I wrote them out as I came up with a melody pattern...ish.
I have so much respect for those of you that do this songwriting stuff seemingly effortlessly.
Anyway, found a little guitar loop that would work as a bridge...pre-next-verse thing (i don't even got the proper terminology right lol), then did the second verse, which was much easier to write and sing. Made a little simple drum track to put with it to make it feel more complete.
Then tried to come up with a chorus. Found another loop from the same sample pack I've been using throughout the song, and came up with vocals based on how it sounds and what my voice would allow.
Added that organ, which I personally like the way it feels and sounds with this.
Lastly, sung that second part of the chorus...which...yeah i kinda like it.
Is it all well sung? Nope! But was I able to express myself vocally closely to how I actually wanted it to sound? Yeah for the most part! But now I really wish I could play guitar. My fingers just....don't get along with that instrument. So I have to rely on samples...sigh.
I don't see me doing this often...just...i dunno. We'll see.

Lyrics:

how does it feel to know
you're the most popular one
that everybody want to see
that everybody wants to come

how does it make you feel
when everybody's face lights up
and the room just brightens
just because you showed up

how does it make you feel
how does it make you feel
how does it make you feel
to know they love you

how does it feel to know
that everyone's here for you
they only came because you're here
otherwise they wouldn't have come

how does it make you feel
to know you are the star of the show
to know we all want you to go
cause if you don't it won't be no fun

how does it make you feel
how does it make you feel
how does it make you feel
to know we love you

chorus
i hope you're going
if not i probably won't go
i hope you'll be there
if not i don't think i'll be there

next chorus
How does it make you feel?
How does it make you feel?
How does it make you feel?

How does it make you feel?
How does it make you feel?
How does it make you feel?
To know we all love you

i hope you're going
if not i probably won't go
i hope you'll be there
if not i don't think i'll be there

This is great! So much to say!

My kids play a game called "Animal Jam". It's made so even young kids who can barely read can make their little animals talk with "bubble chat" where they select phrases from fixed lists. It feels like with this song you're experimenting outside of the bubble of your vocal library, and now you can say anything at all. Smile

I know a little about how it made you feel. I saw the "artists favorite" marker on it. Wink

I like the way you've structured this. With the bulk of the song built around the main guitar part, it's really effective when the changes start to come in - especially the organ. Congrats on taking the plunge into doing your own vocals.

As for guitar - I'm in the same boat, tried to learn a few times; my hands just don't get on with shaping chords on a guitar neck.

There is a haunting undertone to the song that really stands out for me in and drew me right in. Your vocals are great!

I love that guitar sample. Where'd you get that? I really like this. It's an interesting lyric. The whole piece sounds so melancholy. How does it feel to be the star? What a great question, especially when wrapped up in this dark music. Vocal sounds awesome to me. I love the way you keep layering this up, adding musical and emotional density before stripping it down again

it does have a haunting feel. the vocal is good! so different and really nice. love the drums in around 1.20 and the vocal change around 2.30. then the organ. beautiful unwinds the song! cool stuff

Vocals sound fine to these ears! Nice and relaxed unfolding of the song, with the introduction of the various instruments very effective. Lyrics very cool! And the organ was a great touch ...

This is a good song, it says something I can relate to. And the vocals sound good, I think you did a fine job with that. Great contrast between the questions you're asking and the music. It would be a totally different song if the guitars were hot/loud/fistpumping RAWK with this lyric. But this. This asks questions. To me, what you're asking is "how does it feel, asshole". But that might just be me. I really like the bridge section later, before the organ comes in. Very cool.

Wow!!!!

I have a decent voice and play guitar passably, but have nowhere near your skill in production!!! All my demos on here are simple one-takes on my phone’s recording device. If you ever want to do a collaboration with me, let me know, because I have a feeling you would make my voice sound like something that could be on the radio! Someday I may start playing around with GarageBand and Band-in-a-box...but for now, I’m focusing my energy elsewhere.

And, don’t put down your voice. Bob Dylan and.Bruce Springsteen connect with large audiences because of their story-telling ability, not necessarily singing with perfect pitch. Accentuate your strengths. This is a great song!!!

Those organs make me feel Happy. They come in at the right time, have a ton of character, and I just love them! Congrats on getting out of the vocal library box.
