Writin' Your Own Book

Life is an adventure
Don't know where it leads
You might blaze a great new trail
Or get stuck in the weeds
When the journey ends
We hate to answer for our deeds
Like a fish fightin' to get off of the hook
Each of us is writing our own book

Whether we are makin' it
Or barely gettin' by
Each our own way we're all fightin'
For our slice of the pie
As we struggle day by day
Restrictions might apply
In the end only you know what it took
'cause you my friend are writing your own book.

Maybe yours has many pages
Or maybe just a few
War and Peace or Dick and Jane
It's really up to you
Best of times or worst of times
You can make it new
Might end up with New York Times review.

Whether you have suffered
Or had an easy ride
You might think you're in control
Or fate is by your side
If you wake up in the morning
With your heart open wide
And take a look
Everyday you're writing your own book.

I like your take on the prompt! Love the guitar, walking bass line always appeals to me. Nice skirmishing!

Great hook/title/take on the prompt. I love your guitar, the sound and playing is working great. This is a darn good lyric, with a great message. I like the structre a lot, each verse and the whole song.

I nearly went this way, lyrically, with my song. You did a much better job than I could have. Great thoughts and enjoyable track.

Wow! This is one heck of a song skirmish or otherwise! I am just loving the sound of that Guild D-25; you play it so well! Your vocals are strong and perfect for this song! Excellent lyrics and I love the literary references in the bridge!!! Not many songs make me actually break out in a big ol grin but this one sure did! Awesome, awesome work!!

The lyrics are fantastic. Isn't it wonderful when you are inspired to come up with a gem like this? And in a skirmish! Wow!
