Liner Notes:

As I can't post the demo (hopefully later), you will have to imagine a sort of bluesy sound.

When the time for this skirmish rolled around, I was in the middle of watching a documentary about technologies that we're invented earlier than we think, and attempts to recreate these early versions. So i was thinking about how once something exists in the world, even if it's just an idea, it never really goes away. Other people who hear about it may build upon it or be inspired by it whether at the time or even many years later. If there's even the slightest trace of it anywhere outside your own mind, eventually historians or archaeologists will seek it out, or someone will just stumble upon it. So you really do have a legacy, and you could be really famous long after you're gone.

Lyrics:

After you've gone
Your legacy will live on
Long after you've gone

Can you hear the vintage crackle of a phonograph
Can a joke written a thousand years ago still make you laugh
Can ten thousand year old songs still be played from a music staff
Well not yet
But after you've gone

After you've gone
After you've gone
After you've gone
Your legacy will live on

After you've gone
The foundations will remain strong
Long after you've gone

Do you think we'll ever outgrow the invention of the wheel
Or the words and definitions for emotions that we feel
Don't your great-great-grandkids cook your family's traditional holiday meal
Well not yet
But after you've gone

After you've gone
After you've gone
After you've gone
The foundations will remain strong

After you've gone
It will be happened on
Long after you've gone

Does a famous building lose its fame when it starts to collapse - no
Does a name become forgettable if it's kept under wraps - no
Will a starving artist sell a million paintings, well perhaps
Not yet
But after they've gone

After you've gone
After you've gone
After you've gone
It will be happened on

After you've gone
Whatever you've created, history will build upon
Obscurity's the one thing that can never last for long
I expect after the Earth has died someone will find this song
Long after we've gone

After you've gone
After you've gone
After you've gone
After you've gone
After you've gone
After you've gone
Long after you've gone

Please keep your comments respectful, honest, and constructive. Please focus on the song and not the demo.

We all hope some part of us will live on after we're gone. Wonderful work!

Don't forget to put the link to your song on the skirmish thread Smile

This is awesome! So many great ideas - the recipe, the inventions like the wheel. Love the direction you took.

This is excellent. It also accurately relates why I'm a proponent of creative reproduction strategies instead of old fashioned genetics. A few generations removed, and my genetic contribution is nothing special. But the culture I shared with friends and family may well be carried forward.
