Liner Notes:

"The nearest approach the Guide makes to this matter is on page seven-thousand-and-twenty-three, which includes the words “expect the unexpected.” This advice has annoyed many Hitch-Hikers in that it is (a) glib, and (b) a contradiction in terms."

- Douglas Adams, The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Fit the Tenth).

Lyrics:

Folk
Give you advice
But if you're wise
You'll treat it with the scepticism it deserves

No hint of irony detected
From someone that you previously respected
Opinion was hastily corrected
When they told you to expect the unexpected

Smile
Fixed on your face
So there's no trace
Of the point that it starts getting on your nerves

No hint of irony detected
From someone that you previously respected
Opinion was hastily corrected
When they told you to expect the unexpected

Maintain
That manic grin
For you can't win
You know stupidity has bottomless reserves

Great lyrics and vocal delivery.
It is good advice, though; I try to live like that - expect anything and you'll never be surprised.
A great straight-ahead rock tune - not an odd-time-signature in sight!
Really nice chord progression/riff.
Super appealing guitar breaks, too.
And a surprise ending! I guess I should have expected that!!
Great work!

Really enjoyed that. Interesting lyrics over a very tight beat. Nice!

a bit like David bowie, with faster rhythms.. really like your guitar sounds and choices of chords. solo is terrific.

I LOVE "The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy"! If I could've written that in larger friendly letters, I totally would have!
That last verse, truer words have never been sung.
I try to have no expectations of things. Then I'm always pleasantly surprised.
Can't do much about most things anyways, can we? Wink

Nicely crunchy guitar tones and a lyric full of suitably Hitchhikery dry wit! Good stuff.

Good one! One thing I like very much is the structure of the verses
