Liner Notes:

Collab with Musicsongwriter, Nadia! Her lyrics inspired me back to my pop punk days, so that was my goto here. I started to add electric guitar, but then decided I liked it with just acoustic. I made some modifications to the lyrics as well, but posted Nadia's original below. I hope you enjoy Smile

Lyrics:

People say there is no smoke without a fire
Well i'm not sure if this phrase rings true
Bad words can come from a liar
Who can easily manipulate you

Don't believe everything that you hear
Don't let others influence you
Years ago this was described by Shakespeare
Long before we had the TV view

This tragedy which wouldn't have happened
If Othello trusted Desdemona, not Iago, his false friend
Instead he committed his crime of passion
Leading to that bloody, gruesome end

Believe me there can be smoke without a fire
It has been proven again and again
Those bad words they can come from a liar
Who is so eager to poison your good sense

Absolutely, there is smoke without a fire
It has been proven time and again
Bad words can come from a liar
Who's eager to leave you extinguished within

People say there is no smoke without fire
I'm not sure this phrase rings true
Bad words can come from a liar
Which can easily manipulate our view

Don't believe everything you hear
Don't let the others influence your decision
Ages ago it was described by Shakespeare
This was long before we had television

The tragedy which wouldn't happen
If Otello trusted Desdemona, not Iago, his false friend
Instead he commited his crime of passion
Leading to a very gruesome end

Believe me there is a smoke without a fire
It has been proven again and again
Bad words can come from a liar
Who is eager to poison any brain

Don't let the evil win
Let the real truth come out
Our task is to begin
To think before casting any doubt

There is a smoke without a fire
It has been proven again and again
Bad words can come from a liar
Who is eager to poison any brain

Nice fun mix - the whole hits you with good reasons to read or not Shakespeare and leaves you there for good.

Not sure if this is more pop punk, or more emo rock? There's just something about those vocals... Reminds me of a certain scene that is hard to place my finger on... AFI maybe? Perhaps bleeding over into Good Charlotte? I don't know... I only have a passing association with such genres. Anyway, I liked this one. It sounded good enough to be played live, for sure, and as I said, that voice! There's just something about it...

Nice one!

Wow! So poppy and fresh. I really enjoyed this listen. I really dig the Shakespearian references; quite clever! And Peter's musical interpretation is nothing short of fantastic! I love it when collars come together like this! I really mean that. Nice work, the two of you.

I love the punk pop dynamics and the exuberant vocal - this is a cautionary tale you can pogo-dance to! Good rhyming and singable meter in the words. Nice collab!

Great message - the lyrics are powerful and insightful. Love the punk rock feel to the music and great melody. Love the back off in the bridge like section. Strong chorus!
