Liner Notes:

I read these lyrics by crisp1 (Doug) and really loved them so I asked about adding music. I've had the chorus melody in mind for a few days...recorded and mixed it yesterday...still need to listen in the car and on other systems but I'm pleased so far! Thanks Doug!

Doug: Love the guitar on this and the plaintive note in your voice and music. Couldn't have asked for a better interpreter of this lyric, John!

The medical tests are over
They’ve made my suit airtight
Liftoff takes place shortly
They strap me in for flight

I never did think I’d do this
Fly into outer space
But this is not about me
It’s about the human race

Looking back at Earth
I see the beauty
Looking back at Earth
It moves my heart
Looking back at Earth
I can’t believe this is happening
Looking back at Earth
I’m torn apart

I’m wandering through my mem’ries
Of mountains proud and tall
Of oceans and of deserts
Of streams and waterfalls

Remembering all my rambling
The alpine lake like glass
The forest a cathedral
And the meadow’s emerald grass

Looking back at Earth
I see the beauty
Looking back at Earth
It moves my heart
Looking back at Earth
I can’t believe this is happening
Looking back at Earth
I’m torn apart

Smoke from factories
Exhaust from cars
Coal for energy…
Hello, Mars

Looking back at Earth
I see the beauty
Looking back at Earth
It moves my heart
Looking back at Earth
I can’t believe this is happening
Looking back at Earth
I’m torn apart

I agree with Doug that a better song could not have been made from these lyrics. The songs seems to me to be about death, not space travel, as the images seen are not ones that can b seen outsde of Earths atmosphere, but may well pass through the minds eye while departing life.

sobering lyrics, nice musical setting of them. the fade out really suits this one as he spins off to mars

Great lyrics - really like the heading off into space, appreciating Earth more theme. The musical and vocal performance really makes the best of the lyrics.

The mix is great from what I hear in headphones. Though the theme is apocalypso optimisto - I like the nostalgic way you put it - i would add some Mars solo to spice it up - but that's just me planets talking Lol Thanks!

Wow, what a collab, what a marriage of words and vocal. I read through the words first - compelling. Like he's not coming back.
And the music is so bittersweet - melancholy and yet cautiously hopeful. Wow!

I, too, love those guitars and that chorus is excellent. The texture is very fitting and the performances are great. Good vocal to go along with a very good lyric and melody.
