Liner Notes:

Early in the morning of Fawmstock, Eric aka @airbagtester was looking for some writing paper. I tore some pages out of a coloring book of antique cars, that he could write on the back of. It turned into an informal challenge between a few of us about writing car songs. I chose a picture of a '24 Model A pickup.

I did get video of all the songs I wrote at FAWMstock but I probably won't post demos until I get home.

Lyrics:

24 Model A
(C) Sean McGaughey July 28, 2018
Fawmstock Hockesin, Delaware

C Dm
Saw her in a field off a country road.
G C
Been half a century since she'd hauled a load
C Dm
Rusted out and overgrown
G C
I wondered about the stories she'd known

C Dm
Standing on the porch of a plain farm shack
G C
I said, "How much do you want for the truck out back?"
C Dm
He said, "Fifty dollars if you haul it away.
G C
It was my granddaddy's '24 Model A

Chorus
G
It had 3 flat tires and a missing wheel.
Dm
I know exactly how that feels.
F C G (G7)
Left to rot and rust beside the highway

C Dm
Grandad got her used in '38
G C
Money was tight, he hauled stones and freight
C Dm
But there was always enough on the table each day
G C
Courtesy of Grandpa his Model A

C Dm
She wasn't much to look at but she got the job done.
G C
Hauling hay in the summer sun
C Dm
Laying up a winter's worth of feed away
G C
With the strength of his back and his Model A

Chorus.

Bridge
Dm
Have you ever been lost and don't know why?
Am
Stuck in the weeds as life drives by
Dm
I can't explain it but I could not betray
G G7
That rusted out '24 model A

C Dm
I stripped her down, rebuilt piece and part
G C
Turned the crank, praying she'd start
C Dm
She chugged a bit then started to play
G C
The song of a '24 Model A.

Chorus

good character study, both of grandpa and the car. liked your guitar playing and singing as well.
