This is part 3 of a 4 song challenge from a set of 'places' - country, earth, universe, town - that Gwyn and I are writing. This is my 'universe' lyric and Gwyn's music/demo.

Lyrics:

I ASKED THE UNIVERSE - Cooper/Jones
(C) All Rights Reserved 2018

I asked the universe
To send me a sign
Coz I was searchin’ far and I was searchin’ wide
I didn’t see at first that I should carry on
Coz you had been nearby, all along

I asked the universe
To send me a love
Coz I was all alone and I needed a hug
If you ask sometimes it’s true you might just get
But it could look like what you don`t expect

You take my breath away
Every night and every day
I thank my lucky stars
That you are in my heart
The planets all aligned
The day they made you mine
Underneath the moon and sun
Darlin’ you’re the one

I asked the universe
To send me happiness
Figured it would know what was for the best
Only lately have I got to see just what I had
The more for the less…the good for the bad

You take my breath away
Every night and every day
I thank my lucky stars
That you are in my heart
The planets all aligned
The day they made you mine
Underneath the moon and sun
Darlin’ you’re the one

I had almost given up a-hopin`
Dreams comin` to an end
Now my heart once more is open
And is free to love again

You take my breath away
Every night and every day
I thank my lucky stars
That you are in my heart
The planets all aligned
The day they made you mine
Underneath the moon and sun
Darlin’ you’re the one
You`re the one
You`re the one

I love this. Dont hear this stuff anymore. Really beautifully delivered.

Beautiful old-school love song.

I like that title which seems more psychedelic than 50/s pop. Using that first line in the verses works well for me. Lately I've been digging how others use repetition. The change of vocal melodic rhythm from verse to chorus is great.
