Gwyn and I reached 100 songs written together and to commemorate I challenged him to a title write - 'One Hundred Sleeps' based on a chat we had about our respective 4 yr olds and how young children measure time.

A HUNDRED SLEEPS

When I was a child and time was for just for play
I used to ask my Daddy, how long to my birthday
He used to smile at me and gently say
Darlin’ just a hundred sleeps

It might have been, any number I didn’t know
But because my Daddy, had told me so
At bedtime up the stairs I’d go
Thinkin’ just a hundred sleeps

Bridge
When Daddy passed I went off the rails
I’m ashamed to say
But he still comforts me when all else fails
Where I am today

Now I can’t believe, how far down I fell
But what Daddy told me, still serves me well
He’s markin’ them off on the wall of my cell
Darlin’ just a hundred sleeps

And I promise him, from now on I’ll do right
Before I close my eyes, when they turn out the light
And my freedom gets closer each passing night
Thinkin’ just a hundred sleeps

Bridge
A chance to see the world anew
Do something worthwhile
When a hundred sleeps are through
I wanna make my Daddy smile

Thinkin’ just a hundred sleeps
Darlin’ just a hundred sleeps x2

When I was a child and time was for just for play
I used to ask my Daddy, how long to my birthday
He used to smile at me and gently say
Darlin’ just a hundred sleeps
Darlin’ just a hundred sleeps

Lovely concept! Us oldies miss the reliance and belief of youngsters. Fortunately the grandkids are building. Smile
I love the way the lines run into each other. I remember how chuffed i was the first time i got brave enough. Nice song.

This is fantastic! I love the innocent child concept of time! Fun country feel! And I like how you took the hook to the other Christmas song as well. Totally different feel. This is fun!
