Since the song version of the poem was considered for the United States National Anthem (and is an anthem) -- I'll post this in the "Anthem" forum too Smile

Lyrics:

C Em D4 f# e d
God shed His grace on thee, [2x]
Am sus D4 sus
Am sus D4 sus
O beautiful for halcyon skies,
Am sus D4 sus b a g a
For amber waves of grain,
Am sus D4 sus b a g a
For purple mountain majesties
Am sus D4 sus b a g a
A - bove enameled plains //
\C Em D4
Americ - a a a a … [2x]
C Em D4 f# e d
God shed His grace on thee,
C e G g D4 f# e d
Till souls wax fair as earth and air
C g G g D4 f# e d
And music-hearted see …

Am sus D4 sus
O beautiful for, pilgrims achieved
Am sus D4 sus
Whose stern impassioned, stress of belief
Am D4 sus
A thoroughfare… …, for freedom beat
Am D4 sus Am
Across the world - o -mess, America! America!
C G D4 sus
Christ shed His grace on thee
C G D4 sus
America, Christ shed His grace on thee
Am D4 sus
Red collared conservative point twitching plastic fingers
Am D4
Wishing Amerikind drop and die
Am D4
Let the disrespected freak flag wave high...
C Em D
wave on wave on 3x [Oh, Yes…]

Am D4
O beautiful for glory-tale
Am D4
God shed His grace on thee
Am D4
Till selfish gain no longer stain,
C Em D4
America a a a … [3x]

Am Em
Oh beautiful for spacious skys…
F
For amber waves of grain

Nice job bringing the original poem to a new form of music.

Ooo. I really like this. Your guitar sonds raw and “passive/aggressive “ (I know what I mean- it’s a good thing).
The vocals really compliment the lyrics & guitar- very nice.

nicely done, and I like those neil young 'down by the river' chords over the new and old lyric there.. effective and interesting...

if Pearl Jam did this, it WOULD become the new national anthem.
