Liner Notes:

@metalfoot sent me these lyrics to put music to. After a while I figured it wanted to be a folk song... When I'm doing the working clawhammer I can't sing out like I usually do because of the level of concentration I need (for a one-take iPhone recording), so this is me really reined in! haha Biggrin

Lyrics:

A Song of Summer
Cooper/Klages

Feel the breeze
Blowing through the trees
Feel the summer wind
The summer wind and sing with me

Feel the mist
The ocean's spray bekissed
Feel the ocean mist
The ocean mist and sing with me

Sing a song of summer
Sing of sun and heat
Sing a song of summer
Sing both loud and sweet
A song of summer

Feel the sand
Grains wet in your hand
Feel the seashore sand
The seashore sand and sing with me

Feel the grass
Growing tall so fast
Feel the smooth green grass
The smooth green grass and sing with me

Sing a song of summer
Sing of sun and heat
Sing a song of summer
Sing both loud and sweet
A song of summer

Summer goes too fast
Summer cannot last
I'll enjoy the days
Come what may...

Sing a song of summer
Sing of sun and heat
Sing a song of summer
Sing both loud and sweet
A song of summer

Oh what a great summer song! So many summer days I have had just like this. Awesome!

My wife walked by as I was listening and said “That’s pretty”. Would like to hear more “reined in” box like these. The lyrics are picturesque m. A wondrous collab well done.

Er, in my opinion, that one's a keeper, Georgie!

I enjoyed reading through the lyric before listening and I couldn't help but wonder how I would go about musicifying it. TBH, I forgot where I would go because the music and melody (and I loved the restrained vocal here) worked so very well that I can't imagine it any other way now. It would be interesting to hear how the song would sound with a more full on G vocal, but it works so well here I wont' miss it.

i am definitely going to try to write some lyrics for you, you are so adept at finding the perfect melody, and giving them the right vocal approach. this would be a great song for a group to sing around a campfire on the beach. i know that sounds corny, but it is a rare song that can be effective for group singing i the pale moonlight of a summer shore.

I really like this style of lyric and you have delivered it really nicely.

This sets a lovely scene. Sweet vocals and sparkling guitar. I'm there on the beach with you. Good job!

Such gentle sweetness, beautiful performance. Can almost hear and feel the ocean breeze in your guitar work. Lovely lyric that takes us to the scene so easily. Fantastic collaboration. Stunning!

I love Summer songs, and this one comes through loud and sweet. There are even ocean sounds! What a beautiful collaboration. Very pleasant indeed!

Wow, so this is Georgie trying NOT to sing! A great collab between two great talents. I think if I played this song loud enough, it would drive away the storm clouds.
