Clickophany

Clickophany

Stephen Wordsmith's picture

Demo:

Collaborators:

Liner Notes:

The life and times of a worker in a third-world clickfarm. Bit adventurous with rhythm and metre here, but I think it all checks out.
It probably works a little better in my internal monologue, as my accent tends to swallow all vowels and spit out schwas in their place.

Lyrics:

Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity click!
This sickening rickety
Trickle persnickity's
Killin' me, mickin' me sick!
Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity click!

You're trapped within a closet hazy
(Clickity-clickity click!)
The sound alone will drive you crazy
(Clickity-clickity click!)
A frickin' limitless clickophany
Sickly, slickly, strictly got to me
Quickly fix me six lobotomies
Clickity-clickity click!
Oh,

Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity click!
This tick of explicit
Illicit soliciting's
Givin' my nick such a crick!
Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity click!

With fingers blistered, soul in tatters
(Clickity-clickity click!)
You've got the hits, that's all that matters
(Clickity-clickity click!)
The old computers overheat
To roast you like a joint of meat
Oh, warm and lovely summer treat!
Clickity-frickiting-click!
Oh,

Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity click!
This sickening rickety
Trickle persnickity's
Killin' me, mickin' me sick!
Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity click!

And cause your daily work sits on legitimacy's borders
Expict one day to hear the knick of government marauders
They'll grip your whiskers, twist your wrist and flick you in the nick,
With a click-click clickity, click-click clickity, click-click clickity click!
Oh,

Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity click!
This tick of explicit
Illicit soliciting's
Givin' my nick such a crick!
Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity
Clickity-clickity click!

I've never imagined the clickophany that must take place within the walls of a troll farm/click bait factory. I suppose the world in which they work must be as miserable as the world they are trying to create.

Almost unsingable with all the clickity-clicks, but I'm sure some brave soul will manage it! Biggrin

Very nicely done! I thought the "Clickity-clickity click!" would get tiresome but it def does NOT!!! Instead it is actually quite satisfying and accurately conveys the mind-numbing nature of that work. This line "Quickly fix me six lobotomies" is fun to read and fun to say! Great work!!

Good fun, enjoyable read. Hear it as a Tom Waits does music in the style of Disney's 1960s films in my head.

Love that six lobotomies line

This is great. I love the way the lines flow together, and the clicking is there in almost every word. I'd love to hear you reading this, with or without music.

Very cleverly done, in a persnickety, clickety, tick-tick-tick-tickity, onomatopoetic way!

Hey thanks for checking out my song! Really digging your lyrics, man! This one in particular is really cool. I love the rhythm and repetition of it.

Wow! The music really captures the wackiness and hilarious desperation of the wordplay. Cool collab!

The boredom, pressure and nightmare leading to an appalling form of insanity comes through beautifully in the slurred and descending ?melody. Damn things an earworm to boot, I'll need to go off and have lunch to get that rhythm out of my head now. Brilliant. I'm NOT downloading it because that way lies madness. Would be good performed live with a looper!!

This is very cool. The rhythms work so well and the overdubs of the persistant clicks both on keyboard (I think) and vocally are very effective

Love the word play in this. This sounds a little Lewis Carroll. Also love "Clickity frickity click."

You've made me look at this hidden weirdness of the contemporary world. The counterpoint and "percussion" really bring the clever, rhythmic words to life. Well done!
