Edit: I didn't know this was some kind of skirmish thing from "here"... had no idea and did not know it would be seen as participating... -- I don't keep track of those things here, and is completely coincidental. Allot of the "extra" stuff "here" was never really clear to me. So, sorry for any confusion... coincidences, go figure!! Smile Wink Lol

Wow, I have no idea where this came from, and almost did nothing with it. Then hit the F C G chord modulation and got pulled in.

I have all of maybe 20mins in this including recording-writing and upload to SC... so, it will have to be played a bit, and edited to see if a keeper, --whadda you think?!? Lol

So, as others are saying... I guess this may be, deliberately, the "last one here"... -- eh who knows but, likely...

--Ah yes, and the crickets... always present and oh so loud, but kinda my "pink noise"... always there to help me out. At least the gas edger wasn't grinding away! Lol

Edit:
I changed the title back to what it is, not my last minute, lack of "sure", and click candy Wink :
Take a Knee Don’t Take a Knee; East Coast West Coast; Please, Wall Me In

And, -- I think this song needs the "video" that played in my minds-eye when it came out all at once, in all of 5 mins... what's a song w/o it's video anyway Lol

Lyrics:

g C g
Along walks a man
Brown in his wealth
Over done crown
G g sus
And groaning in health

Chorus:
F C
What kind of, gratitude
G
Do we, have to show
F C
When the rich pray for
G sus
What they had and more...

C/
Sanctity of light..., no it is not for free
Drown in its stealth..., climb up its tree
G
Then comes balloons.... of red and greed...
F C G
And groaning, in that great brown wealth

[Chorus]

C
I reach in and…, grab a bunch
And spill out that…, free free lunch
G
Spewing out its flaccid might...
F C G sus
Over flaming trees, now unclear light

[Chorus]

C
So I, take a knee
And im - media - tely free
Society spews on me
G sus
That, which is not..., for free

C
So I, take all I can
I am now a free man
In a land of shallow plenty
G
And rob-bery, done meant-ly
F C G
Over flaming trees, now unclear light

[Chorus]

F C
When the rich pray for
G
What they always had, ignored (2x)

F f G g e d
And He, won't know your name

i like the musical setting, the urgency of it and nice vocal delivery. I'm a bit confused by what you're trying to say on this 'hot button issue' tho.. maybe continue to play and edit it and it'll get more clarified over time... ? just a thought

Before i saw your song here, I took on the same topic just now, just posted my song 'take a knee for democracy'...

Edit: Didn't know this was some kind of skirmish here, had no idea... sorry for the confusion if any occurred.

When I listened to yours, I took it as coincidence of titles, and etc. Anyway, thank you!!! All the extra stuff "here" (skirmish, etc.), is not really clear to me, and likely why I had no idea until saw "skirmish" in someones song this morning while looking for songs to comment on. It explains the fast comments, so, thanks again!

The guitar/vocal punch has the air of defiance, but the lyrics seem to be about more than that. I know your penchant for words that call to be interpreted and explored - you do a good job of that, and the words you choose are vivid and unique. I kind of like the ambiguity, but I can also see that a song like this demands a clearer message. Or not - I like it either way as a powerful guitar/voice performance.

Oh, thanks so much for listening and commenting... "i know" (and thank you! for commenting)... "the answer is blowing in the wind..." my friend Smile ...

Actually I was not sure what to call it other than "Take a knee, don't take a knee"... (dumped in the rest last minute as click candy Wink ... anyway, --even that literally, the real title, is ambiguous, --"taking out knees" or "bended knee ..."? [Take a knee], [don't, take, a knee]. I hang with a weird crowd, I guess Lol
