Kaleidoscopic View

Kaleidoscopic View

Liner Notes:

So, I may not get to 50 songs, but I am in sight of one of the challenges I gave myself last year: having a song title that starts with each letter of the alphabet...I can do that!

This song is based on 1 Corinthians 13:12

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

I explored glass beyond mirrors and how different types of lenses can obscure our views of the world.

1. Some folks see life in black and white;
Others see only color.
Each assert that their view is right
And devalue the other.

2. Some folks live under a microscope
Or view with a magnifier.
Some think God uses a telescope
Or is just a big old liar.

We cannot understand; we cannot comprehend
When we fit God in a box.
We cannot see with blinders; we must try being kinder:
Not throwing sticks and rocks
With our kaleidoscopic view......

3. We look for God through a cracked mirror;
Our vision is distorted.
We build our idols, thinking they're more clear
But our plans are thwarted.

Wailing of oooohs

nice approach to the idea. i like how you use different vision enhancers or diminishers as examples of distorted vision.

Really beautifully written and performed. Love the kaleidoscope imagery as well as all of the visual metaphors - nice use of so many was to see things.

Really nice vocals and strumming, Colleen. I'm with Liz on the fact that I thought using Kaleidoscope as how people might see life, was perfect! When you think about it, so many people need only to slightly adjust the view to see life in a whole different color.
