Liner Notes:

I came up with this weeks prompt, also the title here, for the Songskirmish website/Facebook group. So where did the prompt come from, I don't remember, I submitted a group of them several months ago and probably randomly picked this one. Ran out of time for the week to do the song in. So here it is as-is. Played on a 12 string guitar up the neck two fret from the standard chord position but also tuned down a full step. Five to go to get to 50 solo demos. Ah well, FAWM on.

Gave Up Family, Friends, and the Life That Was Familiar

[GII] Waking up with Irma on my mind
[CII] Chasing me away from home
[Fmaj7II] Teasing with safety in places unknown
[D2II] To seek what I can’t find
The price is giving up family, [Fmaj7II] friends, and the [CII] life that is [GII] familiar

[GII] Looking at the black backdrop of this window
[CII] Feeling trapped inside this box
[Fmaj7II] Choice of cold steel panels or fumingbgridlock
[D2II] On the path out of here
Thinking of giving up family, [Fmaj7II] friends, and the [CII] life that is [GII] familiar

[EmIII] Irma hits pretty hard when shes not pleased
[EmII] Like the beginning or a war
[EmI] You won’t know what she hit you for
She’ll put you in your place
So why am I wanting to give up family, [Fmaj7II] friends, and the [CII] life that is [GII] familiar

[GII] Now my whole life has changed
[CII] Doesn’t even seem strange
[Fmaj7II] To be standing on this stage
[D2II] Behind a steel cage
Since I gave up family, [Fmaj7II] friends, and the [CII] life that was [GII] familiar

I was thinking, who is this Irma? Duh. Praying the storm gets blown apart before landfall. I've got friends in Dominican Republic. Praying for you all. Hope you're ok.

Sad and nice, and interesting that one can interpretate the lyrics in two ways, and they are
nicely put into a song by just you and the guitar.
