Liner Notes:

Since I had great success with the super skirmish, I decided to try to keep writing in the same way. The plan was that at the time a skirmish prompt would have been announced if it were still going, I would go to the forums and find a prompt from one of the skirmishes I didn't participate in. However, this morning at the appointed time I was still half asleep, and my brain spontaneously generated the phrase "watercolor on stone". So I decided to go with that (once I woke up five minutes later). I also wrote a melody, but I'm still too sleepy to get up and go record. I will try to do it before the next skirmish time, though. [Edit - Demo uploaded!]

Also, you may be able to tell what songs I had stuck in my head. Idina Menzel just wouldn't shut up, so I decided to go with it.

Lyrics:

Like Watercolor on stone
...will we last forever?
Like a seed tossed by a cyclone
...are we changed for good?
Like a swirling storm kept inside
...can we let it go?
Like the coil of a snake
...changes where we stood

Just another tropical cyclone
Separating me and you
And we're wishing on a wishbone
But both wishes can't come true
But no matter how hard the winds have blown
There's one thing we always knew
We're like watercolor on stone
That's the thing we've always known
And no matter how hard the winds have blown
I'll be flowing back to you
And so long as my mark is on your heart
You'll wait for me too

Like Watercolor on stone
...will we last forever?
Like a seed tossed by a cyclone
...are we changed for good?
Like a swirling storm kept inside
...can we let it go?
Like the coil of a snake
...changes where we stood

This is lovely. It's interesting how you've been so successful at integrating the random themes in to your overall theme. Smile

I'll sometimes have my own tunes stuck in my head. This was particularly a problem when I started my "3in10" improvisation challenges at the beginning. With practice I can now successfully move to the next song without repeating too much (most of the time). Sometimes I do explicitly take a tune in a different direction, but there's always a balance with improvising because if the song doesn't want to keep moving that way it'll just stop.

That's a great image in the title--- watercolor is so beautiful, but so thin and fragile, and stone. Well, stone is solid. Beautiful sense of phrase and melody.

Pretty melody, I love to hear the way it winds. I listened to over half the song before it really occurred to me that it's voice only. Watercolor on stone is an intriguing image, thank your subconscious for giving you that one. I like the living things imagery here too, the wishbone, the heart, the seed, the snake. Good job in every way.
