This is my demo for @igg's lyrics "Busking in the dark (The fiddler)" http://fiftyninety.fawmers.org/song/23975.
Edit: 27-Aug-2017
@izaak added a violin solo.

Edit: 29-Sep-2017
Some days before @simpleiscomplex added her harmonies I asked Beth (gbg2016 from FAWM) whether she wanted to participate and turn the song into a duet.
Besides her track singing the song she sent me backing vocals and had some arranging ideas.
I have to confess that I just didn't find the time to work on this tune more and let every contribution shine the way it deserves. Maybe in the next weeks...
So what you hear right now is my original guitar track and vocal with added contributions by Laura, Beth and Izaak. A big THANK YOU to them!!!
Enjoy!

Lyrics:

BUSKING IN THE DARK (The Fiddler)

Verse 1:
Her hands are wind whipped willows at the edges of a storm
She draws the bow across her heart and lets her music go
Bending, moving, swaying...surrendered to the wind
Dancing under starlit heaven
Plays her love again

Chorus:
And Oh.....
What harmonies they sing
Of death and love
On reborn wings
Circling in the distance
The songs rush home at last
Dissolving past and future,
They're joined as one at last

Verse 2:
He pounds and slices at the strings, they ring like fine tuned steel
Notes as sharp as daggers cut through to what he feels
The melody and rhythm don't slow or miss a beat
Enslaved by the dark spectacle
We're shackled to our seats

Chorus:
And Oh.....
What harmonies they sing
Of death and love
On reborn wings
Circling in the distance
The songs rush home at last
Dissolving past and future,
They're joined as one at last

I love this portrait of dark music, performance and implied lust. That lyric is well written and I love the verses being from separate perspectives and the chorus joining the two.

The music is spare and the vocal tone sounds like a shot of whiskey. It works beautifully in portraying the lyric. This works very well for me.

Beautiful song, poignant, dark and catchy.

You might like to post your link in collaboration corner asking for a cello/violin player.

I could improvise a bit of violin for you! Send me an .mp3 file or make the song downloadable on soundcloud under edit / permissions, then I'll give it a go!

Really enjoyed the original song, and now listening to the version with extra @simpleiscomplex harmonies and that version is even better!
Love the violin solo too, really adds to the atmosphere.
