Here the sun's last ray rejoices

Liner Notes:

I already had this backing track, but it lacked what I think does not lack now.

In my mind this song would work best after some poetry was added as found on https://www.poemhunter.com.

So I looked up some poems, picked some lines here and there, added a freesound.org typewriter (for some sort of dramatic effect) in the chorus and hiphop strings in the verses (cause I thought it fitted the spoken word).

Here the sun's last ray rejoices - is a line from Anna Akhmatova

Child, the sky is calling
You've been away far too long
 Your absence is being mourned
 Come back
Come back... - are lines from Raven Keller

The world is creeping up on me
here in my hideaway

For wherever I go
 the world will find me
and invade my solitude - are also lines from Raven Keller

Lyrics:

Here the sun's last ray rejoices

There is no place I cannot go
and I’ll always be alone
Here the sun's last ray rejoices
I close myself to the outside world
behind steel bars I lay alone
I lay alone
by choice, not by force
and I’ll always be alone

For wherever I go
for wherever I go
the world will find me
Here the sun's last ray rejoices
The world is creeping up on me
here in my hideaway
For wherever I go
for wherever I go
the world will find me
and invade my solitude

Child, the sky is calling

You've been away far too long

Your absence is being mourned

Come back

Come back...

--SOLO--

No mortal soul
shall ever see me in this repulsive state
Would you still love me
if you knew my shadow?

Child, the sky is calling

You've been away far too long

Your absence is being mourned

Come back

Come back...
Here the sun's last ray rejoices

Cool sound and groove. Well done poetic verse with a vivid image and hook. Great delivery! Intriguing.

I'm loving the computer voice; I'm a big fan of that sort of thing.
Lovely guitar hook there.
The Theramin really adds that certain something.
Ferry, this one is truly great.
I have commented on about 125 tunes so far this summer and this is my first Download.
Truly wonderful work here!

Very cool song! What a bass riff! Would make for a good song to play live. I really dig the combination of the rocking backing track and a computer voice reading poetry. She's even in rhythm sometimes. Listening for the third time now.

Really creative stew of sounds and words ... truly pyschedelic. Love the sliding bass and the web of guitars and keyboards and theremin, the latter of which makes it sound truly weird. I like the way it ends on the title voiced by the computer. Enjoyed the poetry as well. Great stuff!

Weird collage-like feeling, like a transmission stuck between radio stations that is pushing through directly into my brain. Strange, ethereal, with compelling shards that grab my attention and kept me captivated throughout.

This is mysterious and has an urgency about it that give it an importance and I felt I must listen! So many cool musical things going on!

this is excellent... the kick and snare are totally driven, then you have that riffing theremin and multiple guitars. the rapping really fits.

Interesting song/soundcollage, I especially like the bass and the theremin. Also, the end is strong!

A wild and magnificent cacophony of treats! Love the words, the discordant guitar riffs, the typewriter (!) - really inspiring stuff, unusual and great!

I like this more and more as it progresses. After a while I just surrender the to the groove and the whirling sounds. The Theramin really ties things together. You're rocking pretty damned hard here. "Here the sun's last ray rejoices"--a nice line to ponder and an even nicer one to say out loud.
