Lyrics:

Helen’s Bench. Lyrics: Elizabeth Petty
V1 Helen's bench sits empty
at the end of her dock
reflecting on cool water
from dawn through nine o'clock
Helen sits by the window
in her vintage living room
looking out at the water
waiting for her moon
C1 for over ninety years
she's lived at this lake
watching the sun rise and fall
through joys and heartaches
that she has known...
over ninety years
V2 Helen's grown unsteady
her body's become frail
she can't get to her bench
go out to swim or sail
Helen's eyes still smile
her laughter fills the air
as she shares memories
with great grandchildren there
C2 for over ninety years
this lake has been her home
swimming and fishing
as people come and go
that she has known...
over ninety years
B I watch Helen at her window
and bring flowers to her door
I listen to her loving words
and wish I could give her more
C1 for over ninety years
she's lived at this lake
watching the sun rise and fall
through joys and heartaches
that she has known...
over ninety years
C2 for over ninety years
this lake has been her home
swimming and fishing
as people come and go
that she has known...
over ninety years

That is so gorgeous! What a beautiful treatment for these suffragist lyrics.

Oh, I commented on the original lyrics and now to hear it is wonderful! I like the piano and vocal as it keeps it very personal. The music beautifully complement this tender story. Great job all around!
