plainwhitetoast - Ifful Thinking - 50/90 2017

Liner Notes:

Trying to trick myself into doing things by taking different approaches than my norm. This is an example of that (method of recording).

Since it started, I've been recording song ideas for 50/90 on my phone. This is the first one that I did on July 4th.
Nothing fancy, I figured that I'd never do anything with it. Today (july 12) I decided to write lyrics and the record the vocals for it on my phone too. I probably ought to start using a click track or something if I plan to keep doing things this way. Simple song, blah lyrics, song posted, move on.

Lyrics:

Lately I feel like nobody knows what to do
Lately I feel like my fears are all coming tru
Lately I feel like this world isn't made for one like me
Lately I feel like I just want to leave

I want to retire, I want to expire
I don't want to play anymore.
If someone plays my song after I'm gone
I hope that they don't mess up the chords

Now days it seems like everybody is dealing with the blues
Now days it seems like we're all divided 'cause we can't agree on news
Now days it seems like we're speaking more but communicating less
Now days it seems like I am more useless than useless

I want to retire, I want to expire
I don't want to play anymore.
If someone sings my song after I'm gone
I hope that they don't mess up the words

I'm probably not one to give commentary on different musical approaches, so I won't Smile

I did like the structure, and there's a certain wisdom inherent in the lyrics and delivery; to me, this isn't some fanciful fatalist indulgence, but the lament of someone who has seen, done and known much. I enjoyed this song.

very well done, I think we've all felt that angst and you express it well, with energy and style... nice work!
