Liner Notes:

This stemmed from a joke on social media about cars driving themselves. Having a little bit of fun

Thanks to Danny for the opportunity to add a little guitar and yelling to these sweet lyrics. As I started singing it I thought it was funny but when I hit the last line of the chorus it seemed a lot more serious! This one was FUN!

Lyrics:

Auto Mobile

More and more you see it - cars that drive themselves
You don't even have to grab the keys off of the shelf
You don't have to hold the reins it's confident when changing lanes
More and more you see it - cars that drive themselves

It's fully automatic - It starts with your alarm
It's also conscientious no fossils have been harmed
Hear these words I'm telling you don't say you've not been warned
It's fully automatic - It starts with your alarm
C
My auto mobile - Don't need a steering wheel - it's only there to change the radio
My auto mobile - It all seems so gentile - But it's just another way to lose control

The mirror's are for makeup - and trimming up your beard
Those fancy back up cameras sense when the way is clear
If your parking parallel is lame it will help you up your game
The mirrors are for makeup - and trimming up your beard
C
My auto mobile - Don't need a steering wheel - it's only there to change the radio
My auto mobile - It all seems so gentile - But it's just another way to lose control
B
I parked it in a parking stall when I got back smelled ethanol
I knew something fishy was on the rise
When we went out later that night my truck had tried to pick a fight
With almost every car out on the road
And then I watched it set its eyes on this compact car 'bout half its size
That is when it lost it's self control
C
My auto mobile - Don't need a steering wheel - it's only there to change the radio
My auto mobile - It all seems so gentile - But it's just another way to lose control

My truck got drunk and left me - it drove off yesterday
With the corvette on the corner and a prius was on its way
I never saw it coming but I watched it drive away
My truck got drunk and left me - it drove off yesterday
C
My auto mobile - Don't need a steering wheel - it's only there to change the radio
My auto mobile - It all seems so gentile - But it's just another way to lose control
My auto mobile - Don't need a steering wheel - it's only there to change the radio
My auto mobile - It all seems so gentile - But it's just another way to lose control
Yeah, it's just another way to lose control

Quirky little tune. I find the end hilarious in its sadness .
Great job man.

That got more thoughtful than I had expected at first. A catalogue of awesome features of the AI, then a cautionary tale about the perils of AI left unchecked.

A science fiction novel in a song with a kickin' beat. Nicely done. Adams and Asimov would be proud.

Ha! Yes, quirky, fun, and futuristic. I like it lots!

Fantastic collab guys, John you captured the sadness so nicely. Great job!

Great collaboration! The funny lyrics took an unexpectedly humorous direction that works brilliantly with the straight-ahead, straight faced vocal performance. The song works as a satire of country music, and as a funny story in its own right, and as an almost serious -- or at least thought provoking -- commentary on our ever-more-automated world. Terrific work, both of you!

Love hearing the additional awesomeness that results from you guys putting your heads together. As individuals, you're amazing...but as a team....WOW.

Got a nice folky feel to it, self-driving off into the sunset. Gotta keep an eye out for those fossil rights. Gets real deep on just another way to lose control. Oh man, what a great take on the old country trope of a pickup trucks and getting drunk, with the truck getting drunk and running off with another car. Layers on layers. Great collaboration to you both. The vocals and mellow guitar really suit this sober yet silly tune.

Oh, I just love the second half when your lyrics (and the cars) go off the rails. That's so funny!

Such a great write, every verse is well thought out and funny. Great melody and vocal, always like when you two pair up, I get two talented friends all at once!

I really like the lyric and I agree with John, it seems humorous, and it does have that edge, but it's a got a deeper feel to it. Someday this will be very current instead of forward looking. Oh, and John, you did a great job performing.

I love the lyrics, and the music is flawless. I worry that the amor might get lost in the earnestness of the music, but then again, I'm not the most subtle person in the world. I absolutely adore the story. "My truck got drunk and left me." The future of country music summed up in 7 words.

Wow! I was in at the beginning of the thread but forgot about it. This is way more thoughtful and serious than I was expecting, given the wayward humour of the original thread! Biggrin

This is terrific, guys! A great performance, great writing, great music.

Thank you for this one. Smile

It has such a future-past feeling - Sci-fi Martian Western kinda feel. I can see the cowboy shaving with a straight razor in the rear view.... Very well written lyrics and the presentation is just classic! Very well done! thank you!

Great collab.! Vocals delivered in John's characteristic style. Danny's lyrics push all the right auto-buttons!

Cute. I can hear this playing by those who go glamping, and that could be another whole song (challenge to you, Danny...do it!) Great job, guys! Smile
