My last 50/90 song of 2016

Lyrics:

When troubles come and I am weak
I cry out to you, O Lord
When the battle is long, I fall on my knees
And I cry out to you, O Lord

CHORUS
You are my strength and my shield
By your stripes I am healed
And with my song, I will praise you
For you are my strength and my shield

You wipe away the tears from my eyes
When I cry out to you, O Lord
I know I can face this with you by my side
So I cry out to you, O Lord

CHORUS

I lift up my heart...I lift up my voice and I sing
Praises to you, Lord

CHORUS

Really gorgeous! Such a heartfelt sound! Love the chorus! Perfect Sunday morning song!

Such a wonderful song. Nice contrast between the "troubled" verses and strong chorus. It's like in life, your weakness and troubles lead you to the right path. The line "By your stripes I am healed" is great.

Your voice is really clear and strong most of the song, which serves the message, but I really like the louder part of the bridge and last chorus, and of course the quiet bits are great, your voice is so touching when you sing quiet.

I particularly liked the intimacy of the line 'You wipe away the tears from my eyes' - the parsing is more immediate and physical than, say, 'You dry my tears', which goes some distance to bridging the metaphysical gap.
