Liner Notes:

Song # 4 in my personal one-song-per-day-for-a-week Challenge. I mean one song posted, not one song done in that day. This one I wrote couple of weeks ago but demoed now.

I tried to fill the verses with titles of songs by Carole King. Chorus is more general. Not just another klausian hodge-podge pastiche-parody... this time there is a deep socioeconomic message!

Lyrics:

My Carole King

Baby, I'm so glad you're a natural woman
I'll kiss you in the September rain
the earth will move when we do the Locomotion
you can wash away any pain

You gave me a song to sing
now the whole world is listening
you gave me a song to sing
you could be ( you could be )
My Carole King

You showed me that I wasn't born to follow
but I'll follow you where you lead
You'll be sure I still will love you tomorrow
I'll be the mister Jazzman you need

You gave me a song to sing
now the whole world is listening
you gave me a song to sing
you could be ( you could be )
My Carole King

Thank God we got Carole King
music business can be so cold
they never lift you
they just taylor-swift you
and take our money if we let them
but we will not let them

You gave me a song to sing
now the whole world is listening
you gave me a song to sing
you could be ( you could be )
My Carole King

Ain't it good to know!
Oh, baby!

Carole King is a genius. Great choice. Love the Taylor Swift bit. Funny and true. I also love the musical contrast in the section. It's a great bridge. And I do love that this is a keyboard song, cause duh, Carole King. Love this!

This is great! perfect homage and great observation- love the way you used so many song titles and lyrics from her work, plus that taylor swift line is hilarious- great chorus too! i like the way you musically lifted the bridge, but still made it your own, and the outro is perfect too...

Really clever wordplay, and not just with the song titles. "They never lift you/they just Taylor Swift you" is brilliant! The organ makes it sound very 70s-ish and Carole King-ish, and I like the "you could be" background vox a lot. Enjoyed!

Really good musical arrangement, instrumentation and sounds. Really like keyboards and the vocal harmonies. Thanks for reminding me about CK, think I have to give Tapestry a spin afterwards.

Really good 70s vibe and lyrics that nice weave in the song titles. As someone who came late to a lot of 70s music and who loves Tapestry, I've got to call this a homage not a parody.

Love this tribute/mash-up of titles and motifs. Her music is inspirational and her autobiography was a page-turner.

A great tribute, love all the textual and melodical references! Let nobody tailorswift you!

This is delightful to listen to. All of the references are really engaging without feeling derivative. This was a pleasure to listen to.
