It's not too late, you can still become a winner, even if you aren't. Simply find a lonely song that calls for a collaborator.

Contact the song owner and suggest they put you on as collaborator. If they do, you will have on more song in your bag. It's cheating, but not much. (It is understood, of course, that you actually do create music or lyrics for the song.)

You can also make a shout-out here to prospective collaborators.

  • 48 How To Rhyme needs-lyrics Needs-music

by the way, there has been a lot of talk in the past about how collaborations count as half a song. Let me say now i generally find collaborations take more work than a song i written entirely by myself. They're often more satisfying too.

I agree on both. I don't have a fixed approach, lyrics first, melody first, I just keep shaking it until it fits. When I take lyrics from someone (for instance), I cannot use that process, and before I can even get started I need to find the right way. Even when it's lyrics developed for my melody, I have to understand what they were thinking. But yeah, the result can be very satisfying.

This 5090 (my first) I have musicked somebody's lyrics, and somebody has lyricked my melody. I should lyrick somebody's melody, I suppose.
